The Planet Of The Apes franchise has certainly managed to hit some extreme high's and low's over the years. That's bound to happen though considering the amount of sequels to the original plus it eventually being rebooted. Twice. Check out the embedded audio track below for a look at the original series, though to the abisimal Tim Burton reboot and then right up to the current reinterpretation of the franchise.  And be sure to subscribe to The Weekly Planet on iTunes.  Spoilers for all released films.

Rise, because unlike the others, they made a legitimately emotional and well written film, instead of a generic action movie about war. The first was good since it was the first to use the Planet of the Apes concept, but everything after that up until Rise was just a rehash of that.

Can't really think of an "Apes" movie that I dislike. They're all good fun.

Lol @ Karmatron

Ok, it wasn't the best. Action wasn't bad. And I liked Roth as the antagonist.

@SuperCat

I'll give you that, the action wasn't that bad. The way the apes moved was great, those [frick]ing jumps man!

What ruined for me was the end I was like WTF!!!

haha but yeah I would put it like this:
1.-Planet of the Apes
2.-Rise of the Planet of the Apes
3.-Beneath the Planet of the Apes
4.-Battle for the Planet of the Apes
5.-Escape from the Planet of the Apes
6.-Conquest of the Planet of the Apes
7.-Planet of the Apes (TIM BURTON)

I think that if Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is at least half the good that Rise was I might put it in third place.

But yeah! Apes rules!

@Humperdink respect bro! ; )

This review gives me a terrible hype for this film:

"Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter stated that the film "manages to do at least three things exceptionally well that are hard enough to pull off individually: Maintain a simmering level of tension without let-up for two hours, seriously improve on a very good first entry in a franchise and produce a powerful humanistic statement using a significantly simian cast of characters. In the annals of sequels, Dawn is to Rise of the Planet of the Apes what The Empire Strikes Back was to Star Wars—it's that much better."

Man! if what McCarthy says is truth then this Movie might turn even better than X-men days of future past, Captain America Winter Soldier and Edge of Tomorrow (the three best movies of the year to me)

What an amazing year we have had for CBMs and Sci Fi movies!

Beneath the Planet of the Apes is BY FAR #1. The rest..., you guys can debate that.

@Dandy

Nice list!

If the early reviews are to be trusted DAWN might be better than RISE.

Can't wait to see it : )
