"Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind. Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth.

Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete. Living and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands. Oblivion was shot in stunning digital 4K resolution on location across the United States and Iceland."

Saw this yesterday, and went in thinking it wouldn't be that great and the start was kinda dull and boring but about half an hour maybe a little more the story starts to pick up and its a really good film. not great but good.

Film was the epitome of "boring" and "dullness". Only thing good about it was Riseborough and Cruise's Yankee cap.

Nice directing and special effects with a crappy screenplay, it was so predisctable I could tell what really happened the first 15 minutes after the film started.

I'm not glorifying piracy or anything, but is anyone aware of torrent streaming? Wow, I just found out a couple of months ago, and my god it's so good! It beats having to actually download that certain 1080p BD rip - instead you can just stream it right away like Netflix, (depending on your connection obviously). Anyhow, it's so simple, for Chrome users just download the extension called "magic player", and go on the site to download the rest. Many of the torrent sites will have p2p streaming so no need to hog up your hard drive, or wait for hours. Just saying guys... It's an easy alternative, not saying that I WON'T go onto purchasing that particular movie though... Depends on what movie it is.

yeah, well I hate Tom Cruise and his stupid cult. I promised never to pay money to see any of his movies again... but... I got a free ticket to see it and I have to say I liked it. He was horrible in everything else he's been in for years now, but his emotionlessness served him well here. I can totally see him being the horrible face of death raining down on humanity.

I think maybe I just liked the technology and visuals in the film. It would have made a nice video game.

Could've used more character development and be a bit shorter. Nevertheless, I liked the film. It certainly looked stunning and I can't wait to see it again on the blu-ray!
