The official trailer for Doug Liman's Chaos Walking has finally arrived, showcasing plenty of action as fan-favorites Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Far From Home; Avengers: Endgame) and Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker; Murder on the Orient Express) team-up to uncover the mysteries of the New World and the Noise.

The intriguing trailer sees Todd Hewitt (Holland) investigate a nearby crash site where he discovers a girl named Viola (Ridley) - the first female he's ever seen in his life - which leads to plenty of confusion. It doesn't take long to get acquainted with the Noise, which is some sort of force that allows everyone to see your thoughts at all times. As expected, when Viola's life gets threatened, Todd leaps into action to help her save humanity.

In addition to Holland and Ridley, the ensemble cast features Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange; Fantastic Beasts 3), Demián Bichir (The Hateful EightGodzilla vs. Kong), Cynthia Erivo (Bad Times at the El Royale; Harriet), Nick Jonas (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle; Jumanji: The Next Level), Kurt Sutter (Sons of AnarchyThe Shield), and David Oyelowo (SelmaThe Midnight Sky).

The upcoming film is an adaptation of Patrick Ness' The Knife of Never Letting Go, the first novel in his Chaos Walking trilogy, although it's uncertain at this point whether the film will spawn sequels or if it'll be a one-off. Ness also served as a co-writer on the screenplay with Christopher Ford (Spider-Man: HomecomingCop Car).

While the trailer doesn't specify a release date, Chaos Walking is currently slated to open in theaters worldwide on January 22, 2021; but, due to the status of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, that is very likely subject to change. A possible digital release may also be in the cards, but that's just speculation for now.

In the not too distant future, Todd Hewitt (Tom Holland) discovers Viola (Daisy Ridley), a mysterious girl who crash lands on his planet, where all the women have disappeared and the men are afflicted by 'the Noise' – a force that puts all their thoughts on display. In this dangerous landscape, Viola’s life is threatened – and as Todd vows to protect her, he will have to discover his own inner power and unlock the planet’s dark secrets.

This actually looks pretty good, considering all the drama that went on behind the scenes.

It has a solid cast and an interesting premise. The director has a good track record and it even has Charlie Kaufman as one of the screenwriters. Yet, I still think this won’t be very good.

@MovieMonster - Kaufman's script were rewritten by so many other writers that idk how much of what's on screen is even him

Feels like a take on The 100 with some small changes and only one woman. Guess I'll check it out because of the cast though

If their thoughts are always on display, shouldn't that weird aura cloud be circling around their head constantly? It seems like it only pops up sometimes.
