Toy Companies Want Fans to Choose New Star Wars Toys

Several companies holding licenses to produce Star Wars toys are looking for fan input to determine which new figures should be made, even offering one fan the opportunity to design a toy!

Fan opinion can go a long way to swaying the development of certain genre projects. DC Comics asked fans to choose the fate of the Jason Todd Robin by conducting a phone poll, and movies are often test screened to determine whether elements of the plot--or even the ending--need to be changed to appeal to a wider audience. Now, fans can have their say about their favorite Star Wars toy lines!

THE GREAT STAR WARS FAN POLL!
Welcome to the Great Star Wars Fan Poll—not just one, but five different fan polls that will affect the future of some of your favorite Star Wars collectibles lines, as seen in ToyFare #146. Some of these polls will let companies know what fans are most interested in seeing; some of them will result in an actual Fan’s Choice figure being made. Click below to vote on action figures from Hasbro, Quarter-scale figures from Diamond Select Toys, USB figures from FunKo, ArtFX + statues from Kotobukiya and mini-busts from Gentle Giant!

HASBRO
Hasbro REALLY wants your opinion.

A bit of background: Back in 2006, ToyFare and Hasbro teamed up to run a first-of-its kind poll for Star Wars. “We were interested in gauging the pulse of what made fans tick in a post-Episode III world,” says Hasbro Star Wars Brand Manager Derryl DePriest, “so we literally threw open the doors and asked fans to nominate their top 25 favorite Star Wars figures that they wanted to see made.” Hasbro promised that the overall vote-getter would be immortalized in plastic in the next year’s line.

However, by the time Hasbro’s Spring 2010 figures ship, Hasbro will have delivered 20 of the 25 nominated figures, and the results opened the company’s eyes up to the fan demand for Expanded Universe figures. We run down the extraordinary results in ToyFare #146, but now it’s time to make your voice heard again!

DIAMOND SELECT TOYS’ ULTIMATE QUARTER SCALE FIGURES
Diamond Select’s Ultimate Quarter Scale figures are fully articulated 18-inch bad boys with cloth costumes and voice chips...all for under $100 each! Now they want to know who you want to see get the embiggening treatment next:

FUNKO USB FIGURES
In a brilliant attempt to cater to fans of Star Wars, convenient data storage and decapitations, FunKo has created rad little Star Wars USB figures in the style of their large-noggined bobbleheads. They’ve already done Yoda, Darth Vader, Boba Hutt and a Stormtrooper, so who’s next?

KOTOBUKIYA ARTFX + STATUES
Kotobukiya has been rocking our faces with their Clone Wars-based ArtFX + statues, but we want more, right? So let your voice be heard by casting a cote for which era you’d like to see get the Koto treatment next—choose from classic trilogy, the prequels, the expanded universe (which includes all the books and comics) or more Clone Wars animated!

GENTLE GIANT MINI-BUSTS
After all this time it might seem like Gentle Giant has done every Star Wars character under the sun in their mini-bust line, but such is NOT the case! Now they want to know who you’d like to see done next!
