UPDATE: New Photos From The Set Of DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES; Who Are The "Human Nation"?

Photos from the New Orleans set of the sequel show just how much the city of San Francisco has changed during the 15 years since the last movie and tease the "Human Nation" opposing the apes.

New Orleans is currently doubling for San Francisco as director Matt Reeves continues shooting Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Superhero Hype has some pictures which show just how much the city has changed since the events of the last movie. As you can see, it's very much overgrown and derelict since the majority of humans were wiped out as a result of a virus which meant that Caesar and his band of apes were able to take control. How do you guys feel about the way this movie is shaping up so far? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts below and remember that more photos can be found by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page.

UPDATE: We now have a slightly better look at the city (via _itskaitlynbitch and @Broomhauer) as well as an image which may give us a better idea of the human resistance (via @Dawknesss) towards the apes; who or what are the "Human Nation"? Also below is a video taken of the set.

Directed by Matt Reeves, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer. The movie is set for release on Memorial Day weekend, May 23rd, 2014.

This is getting me excited. Rise of the Planet of the Apes was an AMAZING film. I feel silly, though: I saw it in theatres, and it was only a month ago that I realized it was a statement against using nonhuman animals in biomedical research. Awesome story, awesome direction, awesome cast, awesome theme.

I'm glad there are still big, blockbuster movies that are shot on real sets instead of green screens. Even if the movie sucks it should get a nod for that.

Yep my parking garage it literally right by the set. There is also a "Restricted Area" sign on a bridge for the set. Can't wait for them to start shooting.
