Wally Pfister Has Christian Bale "In His Sights" For TRANSCENDENCE

The world renowned cinematographer will make his directorial debut with an interesting sounding sci-fi flick, which Christopher Nolan will produce. We know that Johnny Depp will most likely star, but apparently Pfister also has Bale in mind for a role..

It seems Wally Pfister is looking to put together quite a cast for his directorial debut Transcendence. As we already reported, Johnny Depp in in negotiations to play one of the lead roles, and word is he also has his eye on the likes of Noomi Rapace, James McAvoy, Tobey Maguire and Christoph Waltz. We didn't have a lot of details on the movie - aside from a brief plot outline - but now the LA Times reveal that the film will shoot in LA, and feature THREE leads, one of whom might just turn out to be Christian Bale. Yes, Pfister is apparently looking to get his old Batman buddy on board.

The story deals with "a man who creates a computer that develops a malevolent awareness.", and that Depp will play "a husband who gets sucked into the computer." Sounds very Tron-like. Pfister's longtime collaborator Christopher Nolan will exec-produce the film alongside his wife Emma Thomas. Warner Brothers will distribute, and principal photography is set to begin early next year.

@AmericanPsycho: Nolan had Wolvie and Bats in the same movie.. probaby he's just trying to see if mimicking him works..

Anyways, any words from Disney yet? Seems a lot like a Tron from that piece of story.

@sosthetruth: the guy is allowed to dislike the film and give us his reasons that does not make him a douchebag especially considering how people on this site don't mince their words when they dislike something.

Pfister comes off as an arrogant Hollywood jerk-off (and it's not just because of his comments on the Avengers). But since Nolan's involved, I'll give this film a chance.

And I prefer Bale to get top billing. Depp just takes whatever paycheck gets thrown at him. He USED to be a great actor...but those days are gone.
