It seems Wally Pfister is looking to put together quite a cast for his directorial debut Transcendence. As we already reported, Johnny Depp in in negotiations to play one of the lead roles, and word is he also has his eye on the likes of Noomi Rapace, James McAvoy, Tobey Maguire and Christoph Waltz. We didn't have a lot of details on the movie - aside from a brief plot outline - but now the LA Times reveal that the film will shoot in LA, and feature THREE leads, one of whom might just turn out to be Christian Bale. Yes, Pfister is apparently looking to get his old Batman buddy on board.
The story deals with
"a man who creates a computer that develops a malevolent awareness.", and that Depp will play
"a husband who gets sucked into the computer." Sounds very
Tron-like. Pfister's longtime collaborator Christopher Nolan will exec-produce the film alongside his wife Emma Thomas. Warner Brothers will distribute, and principal photography is set to begin early next year.
