Last night Zoe Saldana was in Utah for the Sundance Film Festival, appearing at the premiere of her next film, The Words. While there she took some questions about the Star Trek sequel currently in production, including talking a bit about the Spock/Uhura relationship.

All I’m going to say is, if you put all the time and energy and wit into setting these two characters together in the first movie and didn’t follow through, it would be a shame.

She also took part in a jokey exchange with IndieWire, talking about what the movie will NOT be like.

It’s going to be boring. There’s no conflict between Kirk and Spock, they agree on everything! They’re beer buddies. And there are no bad guys. We’re just cruising in space.

I guess that confirms there'll actully be a villain, unlike some rumors saying that it'll be an exploration movie!

Star Trek 2 is released May 17 and stars Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, Benedict Cumberbatch and Alice Eve.

Disliked her's and Spock's relationship in the first one. Very un-Spock.

Would rather they didn't continue it but you know they will.

@nucleargroundhog

Spock is still half human of cause he find someone attractive. also actress Nichelle Nichols aka Uhura from the old TV show said in a old interview Spock and Uhura was going to have a relationship in the series but the producer pulled the story out cause of racial tension back in the days

this would be better if they returned Uhura to secondary character status and bring on more of the Holy Triumvirate of Kirk Spock and Bones.

regardless of what happens the sequel needs more of Bones. Urban nailed the role and deserves more screen time and the trio should return to being a major part of the series, that was lacking in the 1st one, but could be excused do to it being the first movie that was setting up future installments.
