Is SAN ANDREAS Director Brad Peyton In The Running To Re-Team With The Rock For The SHAZAM Movie?

Nothing too solid on this, but some recent Twitter evidence might just point to Brad Peyton being in the running to re-team with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for the upcoming Shazam movie. Check it out...

Both Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Geoff Johns recently revealed that they'd had a very successful meeting regarding the first big-screen outing for DC Comics superhero, Shazam. The Rock is set to play the villainous Black Adam in the movie, though the search (presumably) continues for an actor to step into the role of Billy Batson/Shazam - however, we might just have an idea who is in line to helm the picture.

Batman News has noticed that following the meeting, Johns followed director Brad Peyton on Twitter. Now, you might not think that means a whole lot, but it is worth noting that fans have managed to get the jump on several big announcements in this manner, including Rick Famuyiwa coming aboard The Flash (he's since left the project), and Joe Manganiello's casting as Deathstroke in Ben Affleck's solo Batman film. Also, Peyton has previously directed The Rock in the likes of Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, San Andreas, and the upcoming Rampage movie.

Of course, these type of things don't all pan out that way and this might well turn out to be a mere coincidence - but it is definitely worth keeping an eye on at any rate.

Hopefully not. It seems possible, but I'm not sure if he's the right director for the job. Personally, I don't even like how they're making Shazam a main priority. Surely Flash, Green Lantern, and MoS 2 should be more important to them.

San Andreas was big and stupid, but you know what, I'm fine with WB/DC adding some big and stupid into their bowl of dour and depressing. It might even the mix out a bit.

Hopefully the Rock is playing the roles of both Black Adam and Captain Marve... I mean Shazaam.

@HulksPenis - Yeah it's a weird situation because visually he's perfect for Black Adam but an OK choice personality/acting wise.

@Elayem - Had he been announced as Shazam Id feel a little better about this. But casting the Rock as the main villain of the movie? It seems like a bit of a mis-step.

@HulksPenis - Yeah I would've preferred him for Shazam, and then I think Mark Strong with some CGI muscle like Dr. Manhattan would've been good for Black Adam

I'd just love for SHAZAM to see the light of day. It's easily on of DC's most unique properties and could be really entertaining. There really isn't anything else like it yet.

Honestly not a big fan of his, but the one person I think who could mail the role and give it that "big" feel that they seem to be going for is Channing Tatum. Just look at the jump street movies for proof and h8m abd the rock fighting would be great. To bad he's still hung up on Gambit.
