SHAZAM! Expected To Play A Key Role In The DCEU; "Tentative Plans" In Place For Him To Meet Other Heroes

While the future of the Justice League franchise remains very much up in the air after the critical and commercial response to the first instalment last November, it appears as if Warner Bros. still has plans to bring these iconic DC Comics superheroes together. In a new report from Entertainment Weekly, it's said that not only is Shazam! most definitely set in the DCEU but there are "tentative plans" to do more with the character, plans which could "eventually" involve some fan-favourite DC characters.

When producer Peter Safran was asked if Shazam will be part of a Justice League sequel, he chose his words very carefully and replied: "I wouldn’t be surprised to see Shazam play a role in the DCU. He exists in that world." That's pretty vague but it definitely sounds like there's something going on here.

Zachary Levi, meanwhile, is very excited at the prospect of Shazam meeting the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman. "I would lose my s— if that happened, I would lose all of the s—s. I remember thinking, ‘If I get this and if this movie does well enough and if Justice Leauge does well enough and they make another Justice League … maybe I’ll be on that next poster with all those guys."

Whether or not that will happen remains to be seen but Shazam's interactions with the League have always been good fun and he would definitely help bring some levity to the team after their rather dark adventure last year. What do you guys think? Be sure to let us know your thoughts on that below.

I'm still 50/50 on the look, some pics look good some not, but Zacks comments and joy make me feel more confident in him.

@ClungePool - Yeah, I don't think Levi keeps up with the box office.

@ClungePool - Nah bruh that's just too easy. That subject should from now only be used if a fanboy really needs to be put in their place.

@MUTO123 - He said that BEFORE he was cast in the movie and BEFORE JL came out

@MUTO123 -

Off-topic kinda.

Watched a live stream today where a bunch of guys were discussing why the media isn't covering the fact that Ant-man and the Wasp flopped at the box office and they brought up the old Disney bias theory.

By the time the discussion was over I felt slightly dumber and just a little sad for having seen it.

@LongMayHeReign - it was slightly underwhelming, but I liked it. The felt the action was very creative. The humour was also pretty on point.

@BoyWonder -

Because 1) These guys and a lot of people don't understand how the box office works.

2) After Black Panther and Infinity War it's assumed that if a Marvel film doesn't get near a billion it's a failure.

And 3) they clearly have a bias because they had predicted that after Infinity War the MCU would decline because their films are to light hearted with no stakes.

@MUTO123 - I agree. When someone tells you their about being "real" then tries to present opinion as fact it's time to gtfo.

@LongMayHeReign -It really isn't a good flick.I've watched it twice..once by choice and the second time because some friends wanted to see it.It's a pretty forgettable flim.

@jst5 - I never said whether it was good or not but in no way is it a flop when it hasn't even opened in a bunch of territories ( including China) and when it's run is only 2 weeks old.
LongMayHeReign
LongMayHeReign - 7/19/2018, 10:48 AM
@NOVAtheSUPA - As of right now it's made $293 million only 2 weeks into it's run and without opening in China and at least 5 other territories.

@LongMayHeReign - sheet really i loved ant man but thats not the best news. I just looked it up on a 162 milion budget + marketing thats pretty bad man dont wanna be negative but i dont think will be getting another sequel

Unless china performs big time
But there in a blackout right now theres not even a release date so we shall see the first one did quite well in china
LongMayHeReign
LongMayHeReign - 7/19/2018, 12:12 PM
@NOVAtheSUPA - Why would we not get a sequel? The first Ant-man made only $519 million on a $130 million budget (not including marketing).

Ant-man and the Wasp is on pace to beat that mark and will pass $300 million by the end of today. I don't know why you would consider that not to be good, plus you have to remember these movies usually play for 20 weeks and this will only be the 3rd weekend.

Just give it time.

@LongMayHeReign - Flop isn't the right term for a movie like that.Most of the Transformers movies were not flops...but they were not very good movies either.Ant-Man and the Wasp isn't a very good movie.
LongMayHeReign
LongMayHeReign - 7/20/2018, 2:20 PM
@jst5 - But that's what I'm saying, they didn't call it a "Flop" because they thought it was a bad film. They called it a "Flop" because of it's box office numbers. Which couldn't be further from the truth because right now it's out performing the first Ant-man and had yet to open in some big markets (including China).

14-year-old Billy Batson meets his mass murderer idol Batfleck. Makes sense.

Hopefully they'll give him time to actually put on the muscle required to fill the suit for his next outing.

@sixthsense - Doesn't it mean to kill a lot of people at one time. I could be wrong I don't usually think of such dark phrases.
