While the future of the Justice League franchise remains very much up in the air after the critical and commercial response to the first instalment last November, it appears as if Warner Bros. still has plans to bring these iconic DC Comics superheroes together. In a new report from Entertainment Weekly, it's said that not only is Shazam! most definitely set in the DCEU but there are "tentative plans" to do more with the character, plans which could "eventually" involve some fan-favourite DC characters.
When producer Peter Safran was asked if Shazam will be part of a Justice League sequel, he chose his words very carefully and replied: "I wouldn’t be surprised to see Shazam play a role in the DCU. He exists in that world." That's pretty vague but it definitely sounds like there's something going on here.
Zachary Levi, meanwhile, is very excited at the prospect of Shazam meeting the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman. "I would lose my s— if that happened, I would lose all of the s—s. I remember thinking, ‘If I get this and if this movie does well enough and if Justice Leauge does well enough and they make another Justice League … maybe I’ll be on that next poster with all those guys."
Whether or not that will happen remains to be seen but Shazam's interactions with the League have always been good fun and he would definitely help bring some levity to the team after their rather dark adventure last year. What do you guys think? Be sure to let us know your thoughts on that below.
