Shooting on Madame Web continues in New York City, and star Dakota Johnson has now been spotted alongside three of the young actresses who will join her in the Marvel movie.

The movie's lead was photographed with Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O'Connor. While Johnson was decked out in the red jacket worn by the Julia Carpenter version of Madame Web, the rest of these possible spider-themed heroes are shown wearing regular street clothes.

Johnson is thought to be playing Cassandra Webb, with a recent plot leak suggesting Sweeney is actually Julia (her hair colour certainly matches). As for Merced, she's supposedly Anya Corazon, while O'Connor is likely Mattie Franklin.

Hopefully, all these women get to suit up, though keeping them out of their costumes would be a very Sony thing to do.

Unfortunately, these photos don't give much away, but Tahar Rahim has also been spotted.

While he was recently shown suited up looking an awful lot like Kaine, rumour has it he's Ezekiel Sims. The fact the character is in a suit and barefoot about to leap into the air suggests that is the case as there's a lot here we're sure will be familiar to comic book readers.

Madame Web is an intriguing movie, that's for sure, and one that strongly suggests Sony plans to explore the mystical side of the Spider-Man mythos. How Peter Parker factors into all of this remains to be seen, though there are rumblings online the story takes place before the wall-crawler is even born.

S.J. Clarkson (The Defenders) is directing Madame Web from a screenplay by Morbius scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Following recent delays, the movie is currently expected to swing into theaters on February 16, 2024.

I think Dakota Johnson is fantastic, so that alone has piqued my interest, but why god why do they keep giving jobs to Sazama and Sharpless. They're batting zero at this point, and they've [frick]ed up some really great properties.

"Tahar Rahim was spotted on the set of MadameWeb for the first time and he went airborne during a barefoot moment."

OK! Now I for sure believe this is Ezekiel Sims!

Is there a single soul out there on CBM who wants this at all? Of everything Sony could give us, after their previous offerings, who out there is excited for this? Will anyone sanction this buffoonery?

@ProfessorWhy - I....kinda wanna see what they got going on. Idk...there is something quite different with this movie as opposed to Venom or Morbius. Yes it could suck, but I do find the leak plot/premise to be very intriguing if true.

@ProfessorWhy - I remember a time when the mere idea of a Madam Web movie was some of the most ridiculous thing someone could have thought of doing. Now here we are. It's completely laughable.

@ProfessorWhy - yah exactly...like why are they making MW in the first place?!?!? Like an entire movie based around her character? hahaha laughable.

I actually feel bad for the cast. I mean they could be doing literally anything else than this.

Ah plain clothes heres and plain clothes villain. Why do all Sony non-Spiderman movies feel like they should have been released 10-20 years ago?

The premise sounds intriguing and the cast is solid. Then again, I don’t have any kind of hope for these SUMC movies.

@MovieMonster - That's what I'm saying. Like I get it, Sony's track record isn't good, but if that leaked premise is true then I do think it is a very interesting take for the film to go that route honestly. If it sucks, oh well, I'll still sleep at night.
