As the countdown clock to December 17 continues to tick down, Sony is finally starting to ramp up their Spider-Man: No Way Home promotions. Last night, a new TV spot aired featuring some never-before-seen footage as our friendly neighborhood wall-crawler (Tom Holland) gets well-acquainted with the multiverse.

Along with an extended dialogue scene with Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) leaving Peter a funny voicemail asking about their mysterious new visitors, we also to see new shots of the villains of the piece, namely Electro and The Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man duology, as the latter is mistaken by a dinosaur by J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) himself!

Tom Holland will headline the feature with a confirmed supporting cast that will consist of Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson, Angourie Rice as Betty Brant, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Hannibal Buress as Coach Wilson, Martin Starr as Mr. Harrington, J.B. Smoove as Mr. Dell, J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, Benedict Wong as Master Wong, and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. Additionally, Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin), Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus), Jamie Foxx (Electro), Thomas Haden Church (Sandman), and Rhys Ifans (Lizard) will all return as villains from the earlier Spider-Man films.

Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Kirsten Dunst, Emma Stone, and Charlie Cox have all also been heavily rumored to reprise their roles from the previous Spider-Man movies and the Daredevil TV series, respectively, although none of them have officially been confirmed just yet...

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to swing into theaters worldwide on December 17.

Are Ifans and Church confirmed? I thought we might just get CGI, but that's cool if they are returning.

@LiteraryJoe - wouldn't be surprised if they just show up as CGI characters

And also, if they were returning it probably would've leaked already

@LiteraryJoe - They are back.

Their names are dropped officially in the December 2021 Empire magazine (UK).

Don't know if they will show their faces or entirely CGI, but the actors are officially confirmed to be in it.

@LiteraryJoe - There was a leak picture with Church in an updated costume a while back…It was around the same time the picture of Dafoe leaked that had him wearing a purple hood / scarf…Also the same time the short vid of Andrew on the scaffolding leaked…Think there was an unfinished CGI shot of Molena as well…

At the time everybody was quickly jumping out and saying the stuff was deepfaked and photoshopped or whatever…But with more recent leaks of costumes and the footage shown in the last trailer, all of this stuff is flushing out as real…Pretty sure at least Church will physically be in it…

Ifans on the other hand hasn’t been in a single leak…Maybe they went full CGI with lizard and had him record lines…

Either way both are for sure involved according to Empire magazine I think it was…

@vegetaray - that Church picture was just a costume test picture from Spider-Man 3. They'll most likely just be full CGI monsters.

@LiteraryJoe - they are confirmed if I remeber right.

@LiteraryJoe - even if they’re just CGI it’d be easy enough to have them record some lines for the film, and they wouldn’t need to have been on set at all.
Uhhhhhh

@vegetaray - That Church picture turned out to just be a costume test for Spider-Man 3 (2007). I hope he is back though. His performance made Sandman one of my favorite live action Spidey villains.

I wonder if we'll see Rhys Ifans.

I swear if that's an arc reactor on Electro's chest..

Arc reactor?
I don't think so.

@IcePyke - it can still be an arc reactor here. So far this trailer has been spot on with the leaked script. And it is mentioned they fight over an arc reactor during this fight.

@RageDriver2401 - A fragment of something blue and the new Electro draws power from it? I think it is a group of atoms from Electro Blue. The fragment, group of atoms or remnant is the source of the power of the new Electro of Holland's universe.

@Repian - idk, considering doc ock is also getting upgraded in this movie, and that's with stark tech, I have a feeling it might be the same situation with electro. Maybe he finds his blue form to be too unstable, and ock is capable of giving him a containment suit that both makes him normal looking and stabilizes him.

@IcePyke - I love this page.

I had that Spidey pocket book as a kid with the first 6 or so issues reprinted in it.

PURE Lee/Ditko GOLD!!! Very fun to read. So much creativity as the Marvel Silver Age was being born.

Same for the FF/Cap/Hulk pocket books. My history books as a child.

The Lizard looks particularly CGI-heavy when he roars, which is paradoxical because he's always only been CGI-heavy.

Kinda baffled by the decision to give JK Simmons a hat and coat like that, it's virtually indistinguishable from his Commissioner Gordon look!

@DalekCraigWasson - I had the same reaction to his look in the trailer, even though I know he wore that look as Jameson. I think when I imagine Jameson, I just always wanna see that salt and pepper flat top, where as with Gordon we imagine a classic fedora and glasses.
