SILK: New Casting, Episode Count, And Story Details Reportedly Revealed For The Amazon Series

Plenty of new details about Silk have been revealed, including the type of actress Sony Pictures wants, how many episodes the TV series will be, and the ways this Cindy Moon will differ to the comic books.

While Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters continues to expand on the big screen, the plan is to also bring some of the characters from Spider-Man's world to the small one.

Among them is a Silk TV series revolving around Cindy Moon. In the comic books, she was bitten by the same radioactive spider that gave Peter Parker his abilities, and after being hidden away from the Inheritors by Ezekiel Sims, Cindy finally returned and became a superhero.

Now, The Illuminerdi is reporting that the live-action version will differ to the source material.

Apparently, Cindy will have "spent [time]  abroad doing field research in remote isolation before returning home to discover her family has disappeared. Her main motivation will be to find them, while also dealing with her over-developed sense of empathy that forces her to strongly feel the emotions of everyone around her." It's likely that's when Cindy got her powers, so any ties to Spider-Man are (predictably) going to be done away with for the SPUMC.

The site goes on to reveal that an actress between the ages of 19-29 is being sought for Silk, with a Korean-American lead obviously wanted by Sony. Cindy is described as "an indomitable spirit who can’t help but care" and "smart, self-assured, funny but trying to please everyone," with a "predilection for extreme empathy." It's added that Cindy has "a spine of steel" beneath her "warm exterior" and shouldn't be crossed.

Silk's first season will reportedly consist of eight episodes, with production beginning this Fall and ending next February. If that's accurate, then we can probably look forward to casting news soon.
