DAREDEVIL Writer Drew Goddard Says SINISTER SIX Spinoff Could Still Happen Down The Road

Remember way back when Sony was planning to make a Sinister Six film? Well apparently, according to Drew Goddard, it isn't a complete impossibility for it to still happen.

Even though Spider-Man is officially in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sony still owns his rights. Meaning, they can make spinoffs; for instance, Venom. That being said, there was actually supposed to be a Sinister Six film not too long ago. It was reportedly going to be directed by Drew Goddard, and it had a release date of 2016.

Fast forward two years later, that obviously never happened. However, Drew Goddard told Hollywood Reporter some things about the project.

"It was really fun [developing Sinister Six]. I wouldn't have done it had I not thought there was a real opportunity to do something different and exciting and just flat-out bananas," Goddard said. "It was very much me and — a much more commercial version of — the Cabin [in the Woods] mentality."

He continued, "The punk rock mentality that led to Cabin is very much at the core of Sinister Six. That's a fun one. Who knows, it could see the light of day. It's funny, I've been through a lot of volatility at a lot of different studios. Between MGM and Sony and Fox. At a certain point, you start to realize, 'Oh, this is just a volatile business' and you try to stay afloat as the boat rocks back and forth."

It wouldn't make much sense to make a Sinister Six film without Spider-Man. Still, if there's a right idea in place, then Sony may eventually put it on the production line. Whether that's going to be in the MCU, or in Sony's own little universe, who knows?

Would you still like to see the Sinister Six on the big screen one day? Leave your thoughts down below.
