Cool Behind-The-Scenes Pic With The 'Generalissimo' Stan Lee On The Set Of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

Nothing too revealing here but it's still a cool behind-the-scenes pic of Stan Lee and Avi Arad on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man.

Said Stan Lee,
"Wotta day! I visited Sony studios where they’re shooting the great new Spider-Man movie and met with producer Avi Arad. But even though we’re pals, I couldn’t convince him to make my cameo any bigger!"

It's also interesting to note the gigantic "purple" [or blue according to some of you CBMers] screen behind Stan and Avi. Doing some quick research, I learned that filmmakers use whatever color is not heavily featured in the costumes for the color of the screen, so might the use of the purple be due to the fact that they're shooting a Lizard focused scene here?

The Amazing Spider-Man is an upcoming American superhero film directed by Marc Webb based on the comic book of the same name starring the fictional superhero, Spider-Man. It is the fourth Columbia Pictures film based on that Marvel Comics character, and the first film in a rebooted Spider-Man film franchise. The cast includes Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans, Gwen Stacy and Dr. Curt Connors, respectively. The film will portray Peter Parker as he is developing his super powers in high school.

The film's development began simultaneously with Sony announcing the cancellation of Spider-Man 4. Opting for a reboot rather than another sequel, the studio announced a July 2012 release date for what was now titled The Amazing Spider-Man. James Vanderbilt was hired to write the script while Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves helped fine-tune the script. Filming started in December 2010 in Los Angeles before moving to New York City with the help of RED Epic camera. The film entered post-production in April 2011.

The Amazing Spider-Man is scheduled to be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on July 3, 2012. A video game tie-in is being developed and sequels of the film are being planned for release.

Odds are likely they were just shining red light onto the subject they were filming, in front of a typical blue screen. Consider the fact that the shade of purple is not consistent throughout the whole screen.

Maybe...but the key point is that it's not green. I'm just curious what his cameo is, I have a soft spot for them. I remember when he was campaigning for a cameo in one of Nolan's Batman films. That would've been a riot!

Duly noted guys, I'll add that it's possibly blue.

Well it's a Blue Chroma screen, and yay stan's cameo! I guess it's the library scene where lizard and spidey're fighting behind stan, like he said in a comic on I think

Can one of you film experts explain why their using red lights on a blue screen? I'm curious and cameras/SFX are not my area of expertise.

I believe the red lights might be to capture certain points on camera when filming, sort of like when they ise white doys on actors faces for motion capture. Im no film guy but this might be it.

it's true that the color doesn't really matter for a digital switch, in fact, the reason why the chroma blue was so often used is that it doesn't often look too different to a computer, so there isn't much bleed for the outlining of the characters, however, computers these days have grown up to the point of not needing that specific color anymore. but let me ask you, don't you think it's possible that the cameo is with spiderman and the normally blue-blue screen may be a problem for the blue and red (a lot of blue these days) spiderman costume, hence the maybe purple screen? your over ambitious idea of a cameo with the lizard, may be just that, an over ambitious idea.

We already know what his cameo is. He said it in an interview months ago. He plays a librarian who is just standing there listening to music or something, not paying attention to the huge Lizard V.S Spidey battle in the library behind him.

I wasn't trying to say anything specific or imply anything about Stan's cameo, conspiracy theorists. Heck, who knows if he was even there to film. I was just pointing out the screen behind those two.

the purple/fuchsia screen is probably for lizard. You can't have green on green just like you cant have blue on blue.

@GraphicCity His cameo will be a librarian who is listening to his headphones while Spidey and Lizard are beating the everlasting shite out of each other.

@theperm, you can use green cuz the lizard is cgi, unless they are using an actual green lizard costume then you can't use green screen. But then I'm guessing that spider-man must not be in this scene since he has a blue costume...?
