Dominik Zimmerle, the visual fx supervisor for Jon Watts' Spider-Man: Homecoming, recently spoke with Art of VFX in an extensive interview focusing on the work he did for the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only did he share his experience working on the film, he also provided images showcasing the vfx process, one of which includes Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) Iron Spider suit.

Thanks to the detailed descriptions and leaked trailer footage from D23 and Comic-Con, we now know that Peter will don the Iron Spider suit in Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, and according to Zimmerle, the design came straight from the film's concept art.

"The new Spider-Man suit was actually designed for one of the next installments of the MCU and models and textures were done by Framestore," revealed Zimmerle. "We took over the asset and did the lookdev based on provided Concept Art. The Vault itself was created from scratch by us. Our Concept Art department started from the closed outside look of it to define the graphical patterns and structure. Based on that we prepared simplified geometry and approached the interior look from an animation point of view, so how well we could create some more sophisticated opening animation with the available structure. The idea was to have a clean, high tech, presentation Vault for the new suit. It should appear distinctively “Stark” originated. Based on the feedback from the Studio we refined the interior structure and modeled, textured and look deved the Vault."

Spider-Man: Homecoming is now playing in theaters.

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man,
Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes/Vulture, Marisa Tomei as May Parker, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Zendaya as Michelle, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Laura Harrier as Liz Allen, Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson, Bookeem Woodbine as Herman Schultz/Shocker, Michael Chernus as Phineas Mason/Tinkerer, Logan Marshall-Green, Hannibal Buress, Donald Glover, Kenneth Choi, and Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan. The film is directed by Jon Watts.

@BlackStar25 -

Basically they had plans for Shocker face off in full regalia , but decided that the only "super fight" should be between Vulture and Spiderman.

Unfortunately...it wasn't even a fight....just arguing on a beach and trying to fail at flying away.
