Despite being heavily featured in the marketing campaign for Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tony Stark is actually expected to have a much smaller role to play in Spidey's next big-screen adventure as he transitions from his standard Avenger role into a mentor role to guide young Peter Parker through the trials and tribulations of being a superhero.

Sony Pictures has released a new featurette, which spotlights this mentor/mentee relationship and also showcases new footage. Two new TV spots has also been released featuring more of Chris Evans' funny Captain America cameo and we also have an extended NBA Finals TV spot. Check it all out below:

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

The REAL reason behind Iron-Man's involvement in Homecoming:

Dammit Peter!
Always sticking your *Peter* where you're not supposed to! >:(

Mhe...Hence why he's swingin' away from IM in that poster! :\

@MUTO123 - That's a great interview from him. Love the response about Wonder Woman and his daughter, extremely cool. Patty Jenkins should be so proud of what she has done with that movie and character.

Please don't tell me this will be an actual scene. Spidey gotta take on Vulture himself.

It's a metaphor. He's battling Vulture's villainy and the lack of confidence Iron Man has in him--a man who should have his back...

....nah, it's probably a scene in the movie.

@KWilly - The way I always imagined it, was the Vulture actually taking Iron Man out. Either via Tony being too confident and underestimating Vulture, or Vulture getting the jump on Tony. His real vendetta is Iron Man, Spidey is just a neighborhood nuisance. Through rescue and sheer ability, Spidey defeats Vulture and rescues Iron Man using his makeshift suit without gadgetry. Now that would prove Spidey as a hero and future Avenger!

@Vigor - Hey...that's not bad.

@Vigor - How did you get the script?! You are dead on correct IMO. That is how I see it with Tony shutting down Toomes and making Damage Control. I would not be surprised if the The Wrecking Crew worked for Tony or Toomes at one point either. I'm stoked for this film!

@Vigor - That'd be awesome, lol.

That banner is sweet. And that last image, we all know what that's a reference too. So sweet.
