Rough footage from Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse screened at CinemaCon last night and reportedly revealed that the animated pic will feature 3 villains - an Ultimate version of Green Goblin, the Kingpin and The Prowler.

The latter was likely a foregone conclusion as The Prowler in Marvel's Ultimate Comics universe is Miles Morales' uncle.  The inclusion of the Kingpin and an Ultimate Green Goblin is rather interesting as the two villains are more commonly depicted as rivals.  Does Into the Spiderverse see Miles and Peter caught between some sort of 'turf war' between the two crime bosses?

We'll find out more in the coming months as Sony will likely ramp up promotions for the film with E3 and San Diego Comic-Con looming.

Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse is currently set for a December 14, 2018 release date.

The trio of  Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman direct from a script penned by Phil Lord.

The Get Down and Dope star Shameik Moore voices Miles Morales, while Moonlight's Mahershala Ali portrays Aaron Davis/The Prowler.  Liev Schreiber has an unspecified role in the film but given the footage recently screened, it's likely he's voicing either the Green Goblin or Kingpin. There's no word yet on who is voicing Peter Parker but it seems fairly likely that Sony will tap Tom Holland.
