Earlier today, we caught up with Luna Lauren Velez to discuss her role alongside Tyrese Gibson and John Malkovich in fun new action movie Rogue Hostage (which is now playing in select theaters and On Demand). We'll bring you the full interview tomorrow - along with Luna's thoughts on the Dexter revival - but here, she talks to us about Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2.

As we're sure you'll recall, the actress played Rio Morales in the Oscar-winning first movie, and it sounds like Luna will have a lot more to do as Miles' mom in the highly anticipated sequel.

"Yes, we are in the process of doing the sequel," Luna revealed, seemingly confirming that she's already recorded at least some dialogue for the movie. "We've already begun, and I have to say, there's a wonderful story arc for Rio in this one and I'm really excited about it."

Velez getting more to do in the Spider-Verse sequel is an exciting prospect, especially if the movie is even a fraction as ambitious as the recent Spider-Man: Miles Morales video game. In that, Rio ran for office in Harlem, though we're expecting this sequel to come up with its own take on the character's journey. What that will be obviously remains to be seen.

The Dexter alum also broke the news that she will star in Transformers 7, and you can find out who she will be playing in that movie alongside Anthony Ramos (In The Heights) right here

Check out the trailer for Rogue Hostage below:

Interesting to see if they address Jefferson’s name. The comics finally had him take the Morales family name, since Jefferson Davis is a… questionable name for a Black man.
