MADAME WEB Set Photos Reveal First Look At Sydney Sweeney's Character, The Movie's Villain, And More

Shooting on Madame Web continues in New York City, and star Dakota Johnson has now been spotted alongside three of the young actresses who will join her in the Marvel movie.

The movie's lead was photographed with Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O'Connor. While Johnson was decked out in the red jacket worn by the Julia Carpenter version of Madame Web, the rest of these possible spider-themed heroes are shown wearing regular street clothes.

Johnson is thought to be playing Cassandra Webb, with a recent plot leak suggesting Sweeney is actually Julia (her hair colour certainly matches). As for Merced, she's supposedly Anya Corazon, while O'Connor is likely Mattie Franklin.

Hopefully, all these women get to suit up, though keeping them out of their costumes would be a very Sony thing to do.

Unfortunately, these photos don't give much away, but Tahar Rahim has also been spotted.

While he was recently shown suited up looking an awful lot like Kaine, rumour has it he's Ezekiel Sims. The fact the character is in a suit and barefoot about to leap into the air suggests that is the case as there's a lot here we're sure will be familiar to comic book readers.

Madame Web is an intriguing movie, that's for sure, and one that strongly suggests Sony plans to explore the mystical side of the Spider-Man mythos. How Peter Parker factors into all of this remains to be seen, though there are rumblings online the story takes place before the wall-crawler is even born.

S.J. Clarkson (The Defenders) is directing Madame Web from a screenplay by Morbius scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Following recent delays, the movie is currently expected to swing into theaters on February 16, 2024.
