Yesterday, it was revealed that Sony Pictures is holding an event on Tuesday afternoon in Los Angeles that will see a select number of fans treated to the new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer on the big screen. "Big" surprises have also been promised, and we're guessing free merch and perhaps appearances from the movie's cast could be what that's referring to.
There's actually been quite a noteworthy backlash to the announcement because there was no mention of when the trailer itself is going to be shared online. Assuming it spotlights the movie's villains or even those Spider-Man Variants, the best way to learn about these reveals is not through recaps and descriptions or a bootleg recording that's drowned out by the cheers of enthusiastic fanboys.
As you can see below, Cinema Blend's Sean O'Connell believes that an announcement is incoming regarding online plans. Other LA-based journalists who will be present at the event have also hinted that fans everywhere will be happy on Tuesday, so we're guessing those in attendance will just see it slightly sooner. It's a weird way to debut a new trailer, but here's hoping we're not disappointed.
"For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero," reads the movie's synopsis. "When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man."
Among the film's confirmed cast members are Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, J. B. Smoove, Benedict Wong, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx.
Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in U.S. and UK theaters on December 17.
