Sony Pictures has chosen not to reveal whether Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and that's definitely had an impact on the threequel's marketing campaign.
What we do know is that Tom Holland's Peter Parker will square off with the villains their Spider-Man Variants faced, including Doctor Octopus, the Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman, and The Lizard. It seems inevitable that those other wall-crawlers will appear, and some new fan-made posters take direct inspiration from the ones used to market the original Spider-Man (and The Amazing Spider-Man) movies.
These are spectacular, and put Holland's Spidey in a number of iconic poses that we're sure will be instantly familiar to many of you. Zendaya's MJ even subs in for Kirsten Dunst's Mary Jane Watson, and it's a real shame that we didn't get official versions of these classic movie posters for No Way Home.
We haven't been able to identify the artists responsible for creating these posters, so please do get in touch if it was you so we can properly credit these amazing creations.
"For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero's identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk," reads the new synopsis. "When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse."
Among the film's confirmed cast members are Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, J. B. Smoove, Benedict Wong, J.K. Simmons, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx. Based on the new trailer, we can now add Willem Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church, and Rhys Ifans to that impressive list of actors (fingers crossed for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield).
Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in U.S. on December 17 and in the UK on December 15.
