SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Might Not Feature The Sinister Six After All - Possible SPOILERS

While it was looking like Spider-Man: No Way Home would feature the big screen debut of the (interdimensional?) Sinister Six, a new report claims that long-rumoured sixth member won't factor into the film.

Since the moment Jamie Foxx was cast in Spider-Man: No Way Home, there has been speculation online about Tom Holland's wall-crawler squaring off with some sort of interdimensional Sinister Six. Those rumours were fuelled by Alfred Molina being added to the cast as Doctor Octopus, while the trailer made it pretty obvious that we'll also see Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin.

We've heard a lot about which familiar villains will join them, with Sandman, The Lizard, and Rhino named as the most likely candidates for the MCU's take on the Sinister Six. Unfortunately, we might be waiting a little while longer to see that group assemble.

According to a new rumour (and a few different "insiders" have said the same thing), Paul Giamatti's Rhino won't factor into Spider-Man: No Way Home in any way. It always felt like some of these scoopers were just throwing his name into the mix since there aren't really many other options, and this may confirm it.

With that in mind, we have only five villains for the three Spider-Men (assuming Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield and show up) to square off against. That's bound to disappoint some fans, but given Quentin Beck's bold claims about the Multiverse and the way he defeated Peter in Spider-Man: Far From Home, we'd be shocked if Mysterio doesn't make his presence felt at some point.

For now, it looks like we'll be getting five major villains from previous Spider-Man franchises, and that's no bad thing. Rhino was one of the worst things about The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and aside from Mysterio, there's really no one else we'd want to see return (unless you're a big fan of the two disappointing Harry Osborn Green Goblins).

Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released in theaters on December 17.

I’m thinking Mysterio might not be dead. I mean come on, we’re they really going to kill him off when he’s played by Jake Gyllenhall ?

bkmeijer2 - 10/26/2021, 7:01 AM
@MisterDoctor217 - same. My initial hope was that Mysterio was the ''sixth'' member and the rest were just his illusions, but I guess with Venom's post-credit scene it pretty much is confirmed we're getting multiverse villains

@MisterDoctor217 - I mean, for all we know Gyllenhaal only wanted to do one movie.

That scene happened during the attack in Italy at the beginning of the movie. It just shows that he was there spying on Peter already 👀

An old leak of the story. Very few details (but important ones) but several of them have been confirmed by the trailer.

SPOILERS !

Doctor Stephen Strange is an imbecile !

Also, don't expect to see too much of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in the movie.

@Amuro - Most recent leaks say they are in it starting from the second act. That’s seems like pretty good screen time to me 😐

@Amuro - that leak really could've done a better job. Even though it seems he got to see the trailer a bit earlier, could've atleast told it more convincingly

I thought it was confirmed by Michael Keaton that Vulture was gonna show up?

Not sure how significant his role will be.

All this seems like way 2 much for 1 movie.

1. Tom's Spider-Man has his secret identity arc
2. Meet each individual Spider-Man, tobey and andrew
3. Multiple villains
4. Strange having a pivotal role
5. And Sinister Six on top of that?

I'm glad if they cut the sinister six plot line, there's too much stuffed in to do it justice.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 10/26/2021, 7:00 AM
@EgoEgor - on the one hand I agree, but on the other hand I feel like with five villains you're so close to making a Sinister Six they might as well just go for it

@EgoEgor - Wouldn't Multiple Villains and Sinister 6 be the same thing?
MosquitoFarmer

@EgoEgor - The Civil War plotlines overall were too much for one movie, and it turned out pretty well.

@MosquitoFarmer - The Russos are in a different league.
Nightwing1015
Nightwing1015 - 10/26/2021, 8:54 AM
@EgoEgor -

1. Spider-Man's identity stuff will probably take up the first 30
minutes.

2/3. No need to spend a lot of time introducing characters we've seen before. Spidey's or villains.

4. Hard to say how much Strange really is in this film past his initial mistake. He'll obviously fix it at the end but I wonder if we actually spend any time with him.

5. Sinister 6 would just be having those 6 villains fighting together. Once you have those bad guys in the film, having them be a team probably makes things easier.
lordSTALE
lordSTALE - 10/26/2021, 9:35 AM
@EgoEgor - Strange's role is directly tied to the secret identity arc

2, 3 and 5 were also the case in Spider-verse, but with a Spider-Man origin arc also mixed in. That movie introduced the multiverse concept, it had 6 villains and 7 Spider-beings to handle, all with no build up from prior films and franchises like NWH has, and all within 2 hours and it all got "justice"

MosquitoFarmer - 10/26/2021, 12:01 PM
@CandidOpinion - Yeah for sure. I was just saying, on paper these things can still work. But it's true, I'm less confident about Jon Watts. I'm guessing this movie's gonna be a bit more substantial than the last two, because their has to be a clear reason why he chose Watts to helm the Fantastic 4.

Timerider84 - 10/26/2021, 4:49 PM
@EgoEgor - but the movie is around 150 minutes long, give or take a few minutes.
TheManWithoutFear

I heard that they kill Ned in the first 5 minutes and there's a lengthy funeral and we really feel the weight of never having to see Ned again. I mean... of never GETTING to see Ned again.

I heard this from my inner-self that believes and wills things to reality, so it's legit.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 10/26/2021, 6:58 AM
@TheManWithoutFear - now if I reproduce this as a ''I heard that story'' we can get the rumour going.

I also read online from a very reputable source that Ned dies in the first five minutes and that the funeral is going to be very emotional.

@TheManWithoutFear - Sal Buscema became a really good comic artist as he aged. His late 80s work is far better than what he did the prior 20 years.

by the way, we don't know who is the main villain yet, i don't think it's octavius

or the others interdimensionals

bkmeijer2 - 10/26/2021, 7:02 AM
@Fanmar16 - still hoping for Mysterio. Even though the other villains probably aren't illusions of his, it would be fun to see him pull the strings. He is a master manipulator after all

It’s Raimi’s Gobblin…At least that’s what the most recent leaks are saying…

This feels silly. Just because Rhino isn't in it we're jumping to the idea that there won't be a Sinister 6? Why? There's still Mysterio, Lizard, Venom, Vulture, or even Shocker that could show up.
