As What If? is an animated series, it's thought work has continued on it throughout COVID. That likely means it will arrive on Disney+ as planned in 2021, though it's been all quiet on that front for some time. An interesting new detail has been revealed today, however, with Variety reporting that Emmy award-winning composer Laura Karpman is set to score the show.
Karpman has over 30 years of experience in the business, and her most recent credits include episodes of Lovecraft Country and L.A.'s Finest. It's unclear whether she will work on every episode of What If? or select installments as it's thought each episode will focus on one or two different scenarios.
In related Marvel Studios news, composer Michael Giacchino was recently a guest on CinemaBlend's ReelBlend podcast. He scored Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home and was asked if he's returning to work on the untitled threequel starring Tom Holland and Jamie Foxx.
"Well, it hasn’t been announced yet but y’know," he laughed, appearing to confirm that he will indeed be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Spider-Man's next adventure.
These are two exciting additions to Marvel's upcoming Phase 4 projects, but there's no been no official announcement from the studio about either Karpman or Giacchino at time of publishing.
