Marvel Studios literally dropped the gauntlet last night and now, we have full video of five of their big announcements, save for the new logo reveal and the Thor: Ragnarok details. Take a look below to catch your first look at the casts of Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 assembled along with the grand debut of Academy Award-winner Brie Larson as Captain Marvel!
Following his scene-stealing turn as the Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War, star Chadwick Bosemen was up front-and-center in Hall H, joining director Ryan Coogler as the latter introduced the principal cast of the highly anticipated solo feature. The duo then brought out Academy Award-winner Lupita Nyong'o, Michael B. Jordan, and Danai Gurira. and revealed their roles to be Nakia, Erik Killmonger, and Okoye, respectively. The film is due out in theaters February 16, 2018.
Next up on the docket was a brand new theatrical trailer for Doctor Strange, which was immediately released online and was, unsurprisingly, the only piece of official footage that Marvel released throughout the night. Star Benedict Cumberbatch presented the trailer and was then joined on stage by director Scott Derrickson and co-stars Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mads Mikkelsen, and Benedict Wong. The film is due out in theaters November 4, 2016.
Despite being in Australia, Thor: Ragnarok managed to make its presence known with a funny video message from director Taika Waititi and star Chris Hemsworth, but that video has not been made available online, so let's segue into Spider-Man: Homecoming, which by all accounts stole the show with the footage they showed. You can read about said footage in-depth HERE. Civil War show-stopper Tom Holland appeared to a roaring Hall H and was joined on stage by director Jon Watts and a handful of the film's young stars, including Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon. The film is due out in theaters July 7, 2017.
Hall H was then taken over by the rowdy Ravagers, who proceeded to comandeer the Hall for their own personal use. Director James Gunn did his best to control the situation in what turned out to be a very funny little bit before introducing the main cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Star-Lord himself, Chris Pratt, led the way, followed by co-stars Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Rooker, and Kurt Russell. Another cast member was also confirmed - Sylvester Stallone - who was not present at the panel. The film is due out in theaters May 5, 2017.
Boom. Marvel Studios capped off their outstanding presentation by officially introducing Academy Award-winner Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, an announcement that blew the roof off of Hall H as the crowd exploded in cheers and applause. The film is due out in theaters March 8, 2019.
