Into the Spider-Verse was a major player in shaking up the status quo of modern day animation. It was a breath of fresh air, delivering a unique style and playing with frame rate ramping in a way that 2D animation has been doing for years but 3D CGI efforts had mostly ignored. It made for one of the most vibrant and original looks in an animated movie in years.
But as is usually the case, the sequel tries to go bigger and better. Does this re-entry into the Spider-Verse risk catastrophically imploding under the weight of its own ambition? It may have if not for the well guided hands of producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller who along with a new three man director team find a way to turn what could have been a chaotic disaster into one of the best sequels ever made.
Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga. An epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s all-time, friendly, neighborhood, Spider-Man Across the web of the Multivers to join forces with his old crush Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-Men to face off with a villain who who was written off as a farce and an anti-hero bent on saving the Spider-Verse at any cost.
