According to a report by The Associated Press, in an article about Sony working on 3D televisions that dont require the viewer to wear glasses, the studio are planning on making the upcoming Spider-Man reboot one of the first movies to take advantage of the format. Below is an excerpt from the report.

"Sony said it will start selling in Japan next month two films and two music videos in 3-D, and planned home software of 3-D theater releases, including a 3-D "Spider-Man" opening in 2012."

With James Cameron waiting until the technology is in more homes until he releases Avatar in this 3D format, it's not surprising that Sony are following the trend. However, are you willing to spend extra for these TV's? And will they really be able to advance things enough to lose those annoying glasses? Share your thoughts in the usual place!

The currently untitled Spider-Man reboot is set to swing it's way into cinemas on July 3, 2012 in 3D.

Nah, 3D TV's aren't for me. I might see the reboot in 3D (if it's in IMAX), though.

I'm sick of 3D and highly doubt I'd ever bother forking out the cash to have it at home regardless of 3D Sky, video games or movies. I saw Piranhas 3D a few days ago and it was almost as big a waste of time as when they added it to Clash of the Titans! Unless they make movies specifically for the format like with this and Avatar, I'm just not going to bother. Spending extra £££'s for effects that dont really look all that much different and glasses that hurt my nose, lol, is not something I'll be doing with every single movie in future...including Marvel Studios'!

And tea, if you really want 3DD, go watch Piranhas 3D! It's a decent enough movie (just dont go expecting anything more than pure B-Movie nonsense) but worth every penny just to see a hot blonde motorboating Kelly Brook's boobs! ;D Not to mention the hundreds of other boobs it features...

I'm not a big fan of 3d, but I really want to see these no glasses required televisions. I take it that it actually projects light like a hologram!

Here is a quote from a recent article.

"According to Yomiuri Shimbun Toshiba’s Glass free 3D TV technology have an integral imaging system that emits rays of light at different angles, allowing viewers’ brains to recreate 3-D images without special glasses. The new technology also will enable viewers to enjoy 3-D content from numerous viewing positions, and the images will not strain the eyes, the sources said."

It wouldn't matter to me if it was the Avenger's being released in 3D. I'm going to wait as long as it takes for these new TV's to come down in price a bit. When it does I'll be buying every MARVEL cbm movie I can to watch them on one! The $1 Red Box version will do for all the other shitty cbm's that comes out if the other studios :P

Who cares if it's going up against Star Trek 2? Spider-Man has always been a huge money machine. Star Trek 1 did well at the box office, but has anyone forgotten how much $$$ the Raimi movies made? The US gross of each one alone made almost as much as, if not more than, the worldwide gross of Trek '09.

BUT WHAT IF THE MOVIE SUCKS!

IS IT STILL GOING TO COME OUT IN 3D IF THE MOVIE IS CRAP!?

I BET ANYTHING IT WILL SUCK! IT ALREADY LOOKS LIKE CRAP!

@intyler ok well think about this, Star Trek was not only a big hit at the box office, it was well recieved by critics everywhere, which is very rare for Star Trek, and I can only assume JJ Abrams will make it better.

This Spider-Man doesnt have a lot of positive buzz about it, and we dont want a romantic Spidey movie, when they see this, we will beg for the old cast back and beg for Marvel to get it back from Sony.

@arrion I agree with you, this has doom and gloom written all over it
Trust me, it wont do well, people will also go WHY reboot it when the last movie came out in 2007?

Yeah, I can tell you love ASSUMPTIONS, also proven by your irrational hatred of Blake Lively. You ASSUME that the reboot will be crap, despite the great casting of Garfield and the director of (500) Days of Summer which was also well received by critics. I'm sorry, but your assumptions/word/opinion are no more right than anyone else's.

@intyler I am right a LOT, and I dont see why people want a Sappy Spidey reboot, Ive seen 500 Days of Summer, didnt like it at all and that was before Webb was set as the Director of Sappy Spidey. Sony doesnt know what they are doing, they just want to keep it out of Marvel's hands.

If you had to choose that weekend to see ONE movie what do you see, Spidey Reboot or Star Trek 2? I choose Star Trek and I am not a Trekkie at all

@gusto Yes I hate her and I dont think shes hot on a scale of 1-10 I give her a 4 at best thats all I will say on that

Once again, you are projecting your opinions and assumptions as fact. You have NO idea how the reboot will play out, and you know no more than we do. Unless you have a time machine and have gone into the future of Summer 2012, then your assumptions do not hold water.

And if I had to choose, I'd see the reboot. I've never been a Trekkie, and while ST '09 was great, I am a bigger fan of Spidey than I ever will be for Trek.

Why is 3D such a big issue? 3D gives me a headache if I watch it too much, but there is an option to save my money and not watch movies in 3D.
