Spider-Man 2 co-star Alfred Molina who played multi-armed Dr. Octopus told Now Playing magazine that he's unlikely to return to the franchise.

"I'm not in number three," Molina said. "The studio has an option on me for [parts] three and four, should they choose to use it, but who knows. I would certainly be up for it; I had a great time. But I don't think so. I think I died."

Still, Molina hoped to pull a comeback. Referring to a conversation he had with Marvel exec Avi Arad during Spider-Man 2, "I remember I said, 'It's such a shame I die in this one, Avi. I'd love to come back for another one.' And he said, 'In this universe you don't die, you just disappear.'"
