Spider-Man: Brand New Day Director of Photography Brett Pawlak has revealed new insights into creating the web-spinner's comic-accurate suit. He also confirms that the production used the costumes previously worn by Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield while figuring out how to bring it to the big screen.
Pawlak starts discussing the suit at the 49:44 mark in the video below and shares some behind-the-scenes photos showing someone—presumably not Holland—wearing Garfield's costume from The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
We've known for a while that Spider-Man's new suit pulled inspiration from those worn by his predecessors. Unsurprisingly, Peter Parker's meeting with the other Spider-Men in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home left a lasting impression on the hero.
Talking of Garfield, he's yet to congratulate Holland on the latest Spider-Man movie's success. However, he has a good reason for not reaching out—yet—about the blockbuster's record-breaking $2.3 billion box office haul.
"I don't want to be disingenuous," Garfield says in the video below. "A movie making money and people going to see it is an incredible thing, but I will reach out to him once I've seen the movie, which I'm very excited to see. And his other film, The Odyssey, I haven't managed to see either yet. I will send him a message when I see the work he has done."
The Amazing Spider-Man star has denied that he'll return as Peter #3 in Avengers: Doomsday. He is, however, expected to reunite with his fellow wall-crawlers in next December's Avengers: Secret Wars.
In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it's a Brand New Day for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter that he may not have the power to control.
But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves - a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.
In our review, we concluded by saying, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day is everything fans could want. Emotional, hilarious, and heartfelt, it’s an action-packed love letter to the comics and one of Spidey’s best big-screen adventures. Spider-Man has never been more amazing."
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now playing in theaters.
