Unsurprisingly, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to have another huge weekend at the North American box office. Following a record-breaking first week in theaters, Deadline estimates that the movie will likely gross $144 million by close of business on Sunday.
If so, it will score the third best second frame behind only Avengers: Endgame ($147.3 million) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($149.2 million). Of course, if it can once again exceed expectations, Spider-Man: Brand New Day could beat them both.
The Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios co-production earned $29 million on Thursday, taking its running U.S. cume to $510.8 million. As we first told you yesterday afternoon, it's the quickest movie ever to reach $500 million domestic in just 7 days. Spider-Man: No Way Home needed 12 days to reach that benchmark, and filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton's follow-up is now just $300 million away from swinging past it stateside.
As things stand, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected to hit $650 million by Sunday, surpassing Deadpool & Wolverine's $636.7 million domestic haul to join the Top 10 highest-grossing films list in just 10 days.
With $1.35 billion worldwide, the blockbuster has already beaten the final totals of both Deadpool & Wolverine ($1.33 billion) and Black Panther ($1.34 billion), and analysts expect it to finish the weekend between $1.7 billion and $2 billion.
There's no stopping Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and it has little competition this weekend. Romcom One Night Only, starring Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro, could make $10 million, but Super Troopers 3 is bombing and only expected to debut in the single digits. Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man is an even bigger flop, and while we're waiting on exact numbers, both it and the Super Troopers threequel have bombed with critics.
To celebrate Spider-Man: Brand New Day's release, new posters have been released for the Digital versions of Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
