Spider-Man: Brand New Day is eyeing a sixth weekend at #1, and to ensure that, Sony Pictures has announced a special "Fan Appreciation Weekend."
With the Digital and 4K Blu-ray releases of the blockbuster looming, Sony needs to find a compelling reason to get fans into theaters again, and that means handing out free posters. You can see that in the X post below, and it's an undeniably eye-catching piece many of you will likely be eager to add to your collections.
Will Spider-Man: Brand New Day make it to seven weekends at the top of the box office? It's possible, but depends on how much interest there is in Practical Magic 2 and The Uprising. Weekend eight, however, will surely belong to Zach Cregger's Resident Evil reboot.
The Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios co-production has so far made over $2.3 billion worldwide and will likely end its run as the highest-grossing movie ever in the U.S. (breaking a record held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens since 2015).
While we don't know what the plan is for the next Spider-Man movie, Holland has repeatedly said he intends to pass the baton to a young actor playing Miles Morales. According to the actor, "a whole plan" has been in the works since Spider-Man: No Way Home.
"It's going to change for sure, but I have a really clear vision for the passing on of the baton," he recently teased, "and I think it's really exciting. I know I get really excited when we have these meetings and chat about it. That is the thing that I want to do most in this character."
