Spider-Man: Brand New Day Swings To $1.67 Billion Worldwide; 4K SteelBook Covers, "X" Poster Revealed

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is breaking more box office records this weekend, and along with that, we have new SteelBook cover art, a poster teasing the X-Men, details on Eman Esfandi's character, and more.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day just had another astonishing weekend, grossing $145 million at the North American box office. In the process, more records have been broken, as its incredible $655 million U.S. cume gives it the highest 10-day domestic total in box office history.

It beats the previous record holder, Avengers: Endgame, which reached $621.2 million in the same span back in 2019.

The blockbuster fell short of beating Avengers: Endgame ($147.3 million) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($149.2 million) for the second-biggest weekend ever, but this is the first Sony Pictures movie to clear $100 million in its second weekend. The previous record-holder for the studio was 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home with $84.5 million.

IMAX screens contributed 7% ($9.8 million) of this weekend's earnings, with many fans rushing to see Spider-Man: Brand New Day on the biggest screen possible.

At the worldwide box office, the Destin Daniel Cretton-helmed feature has reached an amazing $1.67 billion and is now the second-fastest movie to cross $1 billion overseas. As of now, it's the 12th-biggest movie ever, but you can expect it to quickly swing up the charts.

$2 billion is just days away, and how much higher than that Spider-Man: Brand New Day can go will hinge on repeat viewings and positive word-of-mouth, neither of which seems to be an issue for the webbed wonder.

Understandably, we've talked a lot about Spider-Man: Brand New Day's box office performance this past week. We're going to end this story with something of a Spidey news roundup, though, starting with a first look at two of the movie's 4K SteelBooks.

We also have a new poster for Spider-Man: Brand New Day that cleverly teases the movie's X-Men connection.

A featurette, meanwhile, reveals that the blockbuster used a special POV camera for Spidey's final battle with The Hand. We've heard that a much longer version of the clash exists, so here's hoping it's included in the eventual Blu-ray release.

Finally, Ahsoka star Eman Esfandi has taken to social media to debunk claims that he plays Mary Jane Watson's reviled boyfriend from the comics, Paul, in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

WB losing Nolan was the best thing to happen to universal in the last 5 years😎🖕

@dracula - Michael could have still made more overseas if they would have left it in theaters....why pull a movie still making money?

@dracula - Not at all. Those made a lot more profit.
dracula
dracula - 8/9/2026, 9:59 PM
@incredibleTalk - maybe but either way Odyssey has a higher box office than Michael had at this point in its run

And it hasnt even hit china, japan or korea yet
dracula
dracula - 8/9/2026, 10:02 PM
@LiquidSwords - already beat their box office numbers

And not even a full month into its release
LiquidSwords
LiquidSwords - 8/10/2026, 11:30 PM
@dracula - But it didn't. They didn't have a $250 million budget, $125 million marketing, their directors taking 20% of the profits, etc.
dracula
dracula - 8/11/2026, 1:09 AM
@LiquidSwords - Michael had a $200 million budget

Odyssey hasnt even been out for a full months yet and has beaten it's entire box office and is still making good money week to week.

Michael might be a more profitable movie for the studio (or who knows where Odyssey will be at the end of its run)

but either way, Nolan is bigger than Jackson

Which is why more people are watching and why Nolan gets 20%
LiquidSwords
LiquidSwords - 8/12/2026, 6:43 PM
@dracula - Michael came in cheaper (around $155–200 million) and still cleared a billion.

Odyssey is a lot more expensive to make and market, theaters take their cut, and Nolan’s big backend takes another slice. Higher gross doesn’t automatically mean better profit for the studio.

Nolan is bigger explains why more people showed up. It doesn’t change the cost structure. Gross and net are still two different things.

dracula
dracula - 8/12/2026, 8:31 PM
@LiquidSwords - yeah michael had a smaller production budget but not exactly a massive difference by movie standards

Odyssey cost 250 mill and they also put serious money into marketing Michael. Now you are confusing studio profit with box office numbers which is what ive been talking about

And again, Odyssey continues to do strong and beat Michael in like 3 weeks, so if it hasnt outperformed it profitably yet, good chance it will by the time all is done
LiquidSwords
LiquidSwords - 8/13/2026, 1:06 AM
@dracula - Smaller budget still matters when the gap is $50–100 million on production alone, plus Odyssey’s heavier marketing spend and Nolan’s big backend cut. That’s not nothing by movie standards.

You’re right that I’ve been talking net for the studio while you’re focused on gross. Fair. But you can’t keep pointing at the higher box office as automatic proof of better profit when the cost structure and participation deals are heavier. Gross is what it is. What the studio actually keeps after theaters, marketing, and Nolan’s 20% is the part that decides which one was the cleaner win. Odyssey is ahead on gross with more markets left, so it could end up more profitable. It’s not guaranteed just because the raw total is bigger right now. Cost and backend still count.

And it does.

Spider-Man in 2 Weeks OUT GROSSED Gunns ENTIRE DCU.
Cant blame the economy, Trump, Covid or Super hero fatigue. Blame bad scripts, bad costumes, no direction, & not listening to the fans. Gunn doesn't know or understand DC characters or DC Universe. He uses the characters & the DCU to push his polical narrative etc. Gunns DCU Dead Cinematic Universe is 0-6. Gunn & Safran is DONE 2027!

@ClarkJoeKent -

to a certain degree, you are partially right,
don't forget that the previous attempts to create a DCU failed
and failed HARD
(thanks to zack snyder)
people were left with a bad taste in their minds, now Gunn is trying to invigorate a new kind of blood into that said universe, it's an uphill battle but time will tell...

Gunn has his flaws but
the blame is not all his fault,
at least not all of it

ClarkJoeKent - 8/10/2026, 9:42 PM
@Equivocal - Zack Snyder DIRECTED 5 DCEU Films MoS($680 Million) BvS($890 Million) Wonder Woman ($860 Million) Aquaman ($1.2 Billion)Zack Snyders JLA (which wasn't in theaters) All his films was written by Chris Terrio & David Goyer and Produced by Chris Nolan. LOOKS PRETTY successful out of ALL OF DC ventures. Walter Hamada was over Shazam, Wonder Woman 1984, Aquaman 2, Shazam 2, The Flash (W/Gunn) & Blue Beetle. Then theres the shitty Gunn DCU Dead Cinematic Universe.
After looking over all of DC it seems like Zack Snyder & Chris Nolans DCU was The Best & Most Profitable. Facts & Numbers.
Equivocal
Equivocal - 8/11/2026, 8:57 PM
@ClarkJoeKent -

again, you are partially right
they were profitable but far from "successful"
MoS AND bvs made some buck but they were widely panned not only by critics, but by the general public, so bad that the studio halt future productions on both films, Wonder Woman and Aquaman were decent but the sequels buried them, that bad...

ClarkJoeKent
ClarkJoeKent - 8/12/2026, 7:32 AM
@Equivocal - I believed you guys before...I didn't watch MoS & Zack films till AFTER Gunns Superman 2025 hit HBOMAX....I watched them after & dude you're a liar. Those movies was EPIC, CINEMATIC & ages well. If Zacks films was polarizing like you say then Gunns DCU is MAGA polarized.

now saying that I'm a liar, is hilarious, I chuckle a little bit, NGL
Gunn is maga polarized ?? what the heck are you talking about ??
are you high ??!!
have a good night, don't forget to take your chill pills
these are just movies, nothing to have a heart attack over them...

@Equivocal - When you can say Gunn DCU is Successful or better than Zack/Nolans DCU I think your smoking crack. Ive watched BOTH on HBO & Gunns Superman is bad....really bad. It wasn't even funny with all of its forced comedy. Gunn Glazers talk mad shit about ppl who liked Zacks films now they cant take it when the rabbit has the.....GUNN😂😂😂
