Will Spider-Man: Brand New Day Beat Avengers: Endgame At The Worldwide Box Office? New Projections Revealed

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will remain at #1 this weekend, but can it dethrone Avengers: Endgame as the highest-grossing movie of all-time? Here are the latest global box office projections.

We're still waiting on updated international box office numbers for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but the movie is projected to remain at #1 both overseas and in North America this weekend.

According to Deadline, the web-slinger's latest movie is heading towards $35 million at the domestic box office, and $85 million worldwide. A fourth-weekend global decline of 50% puts it in the same ballpark as 2019's Avengers: Endgame.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is outperforming that at home, but even with better-than-expected ticket sales in China, the box office is in a vastly different position than seven years ago. So, while Spidey will make more money in the U.S. than the last Avengers movie, it won't top it either internationally or worldwide.

The site explains, "It likely won't topple the high points of 20th Century Studio's Avatar ($2.9B) or Avengers: Endgame ($2.79B, and will raise its grosses more after its September re-issue). However, Brand New Day has a shot at pushing China's animated Ne Zha 2 further down on the charts (that pic grossed $2.27B)."

When we do get updated global figures, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will have almost certainly swung past Avengers: Infinity War ($2.048 billion) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.068 billion), with Ne Zha 2 ($2.217 billion) up next. From there, it surely won't be that hard to dethrone Titanic ($2.257 billion) and Avatar: The Way of Water ($2.334 billion) to become the third-biggest movie ever.

Whatever records are or aren't broken when all is said and done, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a huge success and Sony Pictures' highest-grossing title. Spider-Man 5 is guaranteed, though there is some uncertainty about Destin Daniel Cretton being at the helm of it.

It's also worth noting that Avengers: Endgame Encore will likely dethrone Avatar ($2.799 billion vs. $2.923 billion) to once again be the highest-grossing movie in history.

In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it's a Brand New Day for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control.

But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves - a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.

In our review, we concluded by saying, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day is everything fans could want. Emotional, hilarious, and heartfelt, it’s an action-packed love letter to the comics and one of Spidey’s best big-screen adventures. Spider-Man has never been more amazing."

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now playing in theaters.
