THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2: "Electro Arrives" In New Viral Site With Mysterious Countdown

A URL has been discovered in the first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and it leads to a mysterious website which features Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) looking over a countdown for something set to take place 20 days from now. What exactly does "Electro Arrives" mean? Check it out!

The site above was discovered at around the 2:07 mark in the recently released trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (1080p versions at least anyway). It's an intriguing addition to the viral campaign, but before you get too excited, it appears as if this is counting down to the recently announced unveiling of new footage from the sequel which will take place in Times Square during the New Year celebrations. Whether this could be an indication that it will be released online simultaneously remains to be seen, but it now seems possible at least!

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson
Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro
Sally Fields as Aunt May

RELEASE DATE: May 2nd, 2014.

Is it related with The Amazing Spider-Man appearance at the Times Squares festivities for the New Year's Eve? Probably, all I know is that was a good catch by ComingSoon.net and that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is getting some of the most clever and interesting viral marketings I've seen in a while.

Either it's electro arriving at something at New Years or it's another video that shows a good bit of the movie spoiling at least 20-30% of the movie

I've searched the trailer around the 2:07 mark as stated above and I cannot figure out where they saw this in the trailer. Has anybody else found it? I know the link is above, I'm just curious to see it in the trailer.

I enjoy all the viral marketing. It's just a little something extra. To you guys that hate these movies so much, why do you even click on the article links? I mean, you already know ahead of time that you're not going to like what you see, right?

So he's basically gonna turn in to Electro like Arnie turned into Mr. Freeze back in "Batman and Robin." Watch, those electric eels will be the radioactive spider to Electro's origin story.

Sony should have bit the bullet and paid to use Kingpin in this current version of Spidey Flix. All this Oscorp did everything seems to forced. Its okay for some of the Ultimate stuff to be used but you gotta mix in some OG storylines. The Venom being made by OScorp too is gonna be overboard. Guarantee we get a Venom story birthed in this movie.
cjspade
cjspade - 12/11/2013, 5:22 PM
@at I agree to a point, to bad marvel doesn't have all the rights could have had a back story of the secret wars, but since we already know the symbiot will be created at oscorp as long as they make venom the as you said the OG version and do him justice I'm ok with that, maybe get brock lesner to be Eddie Brock....I could see Jim Carrey as Cletus still for carnage
