THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 Was Going To Feature 'Peter Parker' Resurrecting His Dead Relatives

No wonder Sony ended up turning to Marvel Studios for help! Talking at Comic-Con today, Denis Leary has revealed a major plot point of the now scrapped The Amazing Spider-Man 3 which would have seen Peter Parker use some sort of formula to resurrect his deceased loved ones...

Talking to IGN in the video below, Denis Leary confirms that he was set to reprise the role of Captain George Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. It wasn't going to be as part of a dream sequence or flashback though; he was actually going to be resurrected, potentially alongside a number of other characters! "Possibly in 3, there was this idea at one point that Spider-Man would be able to take this formula and regenerate the people in his life that had died. So, there was this discussion that Captain Stacy would come back even bigger in episode 3." What the f**k?

That forumla could be Venom related (remember that Gwen Stacy was brought back with the use of the Carnage symbiote in the Ultimate Comics, an idea Sony execs batted around in those leaked "Sony Hack" emails), but it still sounds downright bizarre. Does this mean Peter would have brought back Uncle Ben, his parents, Gwen, and her father? That would have no doubt been controversial, but this plan could explain how Norman Osborn would have been brought back after his death, especially as a deleted scene featured his head being kept in a jar by The Man in the Hat...

Just when you think The Amazing Spider-Man franchise can't get any more entertaining, it just keeps popping up to surprise us. It might be dead in the water, but it's the gift that keeps on giving.
