THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Runtime Clocks In At Over Two Hours?

Despite past reports indicating that The Amazing Spider-Man would be a paltry 90 minutes long, a reliable source now indicates that Marc Webb's highly anticipated reboot will be much longer than expected. Read on for details.

Stark Industries RU has been a very reliable source of information in the past (they frequently release new images and artwork before anyone else) and have today taken to their Twitter account to reveal that the runtime of The Amazing Spider-Man is just under two and a half hours! Of course, we are currently searching to find out where this information originated from, so stay tuned to CBM for further updates.

Of course, if this accurate it's great news for anyone who was worried that those reports of a 90 minute runtime were the real deal. As the track list for The Amazing Spider-Man's soundtrack revealed last night (find that HERE) it would appear as if director Marc Webb is going to squeeze a lot of story into the reboot, so a runtime which reflects that is very welcome. Sound off with your thoughts on this in the usual place.

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors/The Lizard
Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben
Sally Fields as Aunt May
Denis Leary as George Stacy

RELEASE DATE: July 3rd, 2012.

I don't know if 16 minutes over two hours qualifies as "well over" but still great news none the less. That means every character has the proper amount of time to be fleshed out and the narrative won't be rushed.

So excited for this movie I would prefer it to be a bit longer but at least it's not 90 mins like previously reported

I don't know. Webb says they're coming in really close to two hours, and that they have their final cut already. If this 16 minutes doesn't include credits, then I think it sounds too long to be consistent with what Webb reported.

@RidiculousFanBoyDemands - Its funny you should say that. I believe that was what I said when theaters were listing TDKR at 2:16 and everyone claimed it would be well over two hours, possibly even three.

@FrankieDedo - Holy Crap, that team is AWESOME. I mean you got a Green Lantern, a Jedi, & a Dinosaur. Forget the rest of the team that is an epic win right there.

excellent! Now there's enough time to fully flesh out the characters without sacrificing action and suspense, or vice versa

I am one who loved the original Spider-Man trilogy, everyone says how they didn't stick to the comics when they know it's a lie. There were things they kept, some things they took and some that they added. This movie between what the previews show and what the run time apparently is, The Amazing Spider-Man is gonna have more from the comics as well as overall be a better film than the original. I can't wait!!! I've never been more excited for a villain in a CBM than I am for The Lizard, except for the origin part (like him being a scientist in Florida) everything else has been accurate of him and I think he'll be the best CGI villain ever. But that's just me.

A good 90 min. movie is preferable to a bad 120 min. movie. So this doesn't mean anything until we see it.

Seems like this is the next evolution of CBMs and such. I mean, to properly tell a story that's been established through hundreds of comics in anything less than 100 minutes is ridiculously Green Lanternish...see what I did there?

either that would be a redeeming factor or another burdensome minutes to agonize over for an extended time at the theater.

i care not. it's not the Spidey i knew. thus.

After watching both trailers on the big screen, right in front of the Avengers, Amazing Spider-man is actually looking better than TDKR. That's something i would have never, and i do mean ever, have thought possible. Not in a million years.
AlexDeLarge87
AlexDeLarge87 - 5/23/2012, 7:56 AM
Thats more like it. :)

tea@ You´re right Raimi get Spidey´s backstory right but his Spidey´s problem was the cornyness and Maguire who i never liked... specially after the horrible third film.
This is more story and character wise and its probably more serious too and not so laughable i think. And i have high hopes we get to see the genius side of Peter Parker this time.

I think if they would combine the best parts from these both movies we would get the real Spider-Man movie. :)

But until then i cant wait to see this new take.

Shaman, you also stated that Wrath of the Titans looked better than TDKR, so, you know...
