What does Webb have planned for Spidey?

In recent weeks, I continuously see comments aimed at how awful the Spider-man reboot will be (Or at least, people have lost a great deal of interest or faith in the project). I suppose Sony is to blame.

But Sony aside, we have Marc Webb. The man who is expected to helm this wall crawlers story, and give us a brand new take on not only the web slinger himself, but his unmasked form: Peter Parker.

It seems we may not hear a great deal of news for a long time (Falling into the category of movies we never hear much news about). But for now, lets piece together what we know so far, what many fans have speculated on, and what you guys would like to see.

Its no doubt, that the different route that Webb may go for is The Ultimate route. Its fresh, different, darker. But at the same time, we still getting given the wise cracking kid that has a harsh bunch of high school years, and later discovers a power beyond anything. Webb himself has said that it will focus on his school years, rather than Raimi's jump to adult life in between only two movies.

As for costumes, what could be done different? With something like X-men, a countless amount of different attires could've been chosen. From blue and X printed jerseys, to Wolverines yellow spandex. But with Spidey, his costume hasn't changed a great deal over the years. Trust me I think its a brilliant costume, but there isn't really anywhere to go further than what Raimi did. Any suggestions?

Now onto Villains. Someone very smart once mentioned in a comment, that the smart decision is to follow Nolan's route: Not introducing the characters main villain in the first movie, instead developing it for the sequel. What Raimi did with Green Goblin was good, but do we really want to have the Goblin all over again...right away? Electro or Lizard seems to be the fan favorite, but even baddies like this require some origin. Thoughts?

I wondered what they would do with the costume too. They could always use Alex Ross' design which was pretty bad ass, or the one Ben Riley wore when he became Spider-Man (not Scarlet Spider) but minus having the web shooters outside the costume, I'd keep those hidden.

I would love to see Electro as a villain. I think that would be a cinematic feast. After hearing about what Raimi wanted to do (Vulture? Really?) Sony clearly didn't have a choice but to reboot. Ideally, I love to see production tank so Marvel could take the rights back to their most popular character.

scrap the whole idea and just can the whole SM project, give it back to Marvel so they can do a proper burial for it. Orrrr breathe new life and fix the mistakes with a SM 4...but that will never happen.

Sorry to sound so pessimistic but nowadays i could care less about Spiderman on big screen and SM is my all time favorite character....but you never know :/

I agree. I wasn't all that keen on Sam Raimi's Spiderman. I'm even less enthusiastic about "Ultimate Spider-teen".

I would love to see MARVEL STUDIOS get back the film rights and for them to shoot a realistic mature film based the original MARVEL "Amazing Spiderman" comic books.

You know the books about Peter Parker the MAN and his alter ego Spider-MAN.

I too had a hard time with Raimi's SM. Mary Jane was supposed to be super hot. Like, model hot. So far above Peter that you could never see them together. Dundst is a pretty girl, but just didn't seem to fit the caliber of MJ in the comics. And I never liked Tobey as SM.

I had hoped they would try to tie in the new Spider-man with the Avengers movie, but that ain't happening.

I used to like Raimi as a director, but now realise that he is just up himself. Two strange casting choices (Toby and Kirsten) as well as not respecting the source material (Venom and the emo-parker); and on a side note "Drag me to hell" was very disappointing; shows that he has no clue what he is doing, but just lucky. This is why SPiderman 2 was a fantastic movie, but the other two are bad. (The first spiderman is very cheesy once you have seen 2, and is like the 60's comics Raimi is a fan of, and it shows.

That's my 2 pennies worth anyway ;)

I think th ereboot is a bad idea at this time, 2 different versions of the same character within 1 generation of film goers?? I think Sony are just heading out there for the money that can be made from possibly the most popular comic book character created.
If a reboot is ever to be planned on this franchise then it should be by it's home company, who know it's history and it's future.
