When at its height, the interconnected DC/CW universe, better known by long time fans as the Arrowverse, was truly an unstoppable cornerstone of superhero network television in the 2010's.
With CW's hit series The Flash, marking the conclusion of this long-running universe back in May of this year, fans believed that the actors who have represented these character's on the small screen were officially done.
Supergirl star Melissa Benoist, who portrayed the titular character from 2015 to 2021 on The CW, has supposedly teased her return as the Girl of Steel in the DC Universe.
While wishing a fan of hers a happy birthday via a video message from her Cameo page, Benoist shared her genuine love for playing the character, the show, and even teasing her potentially playing the character again!
“So happy to hear that you’re a fan of the show and my character. I love playing [Supergirl.] That’s so cool you grew up watching the shows. They were really really fun to work on."
"Who knows if I may put on the suit again? We’ll see. I have one that I sneakily took when we ended the show. Don’t tell anyone. This is a secret. A big one, actually. But yeah, I do have a suit in my attic, and I would love to play the character again. We’ll see what happens.”
Now does this mean Benoist is "officially" set to return as Kara Danvers? No. However, with the hit series Superman and Lois staying strong on The CW, we know there is always a chance for her character to pop up once or twice as a fun little cameo, even if it won't be the version from the Arrowverse.
Superman and Lois star Elizabeth Tulloch, who plays Lois Lane on the show, revealed Benoist would be thrilled to dawn the cape once again, and even work with some of her other co-stars.
“We have not heard that rumor about her coming on the show… She has expressed interest to me in doing it and I know that we would love to work with her again, and Grant [Gustin], and everyone else. I just don’t know."
With DC Studios now undergoing new leadership by new CEO James Gunn, there is always a possibility Benoist's character can show up in the non-canonical DC projects, also known as Elseworlds, which is the universe of DC media that Superman and Lois is confirmed to be part of.
