Bryan Singer Would Have Done MAN OF STEEL "A Little Differently"; Reveals Why He Didn't Cast Henry Cavill in SUPERMAN RETURNS

X-Men Bryan Singer reveals why he would have approached Man of Steel differently and comments on his decision to not cast Henry Cavill in Superman Returns. Check it out!

"Yeah. I saw it when it came out," X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer told Empire Magazine in their latest issue when asked if he decided to watch Zack Snyder's Man of Steel last summer. "Um...I think Henry Cavill is great. I knew Henry. He and I were friends years ago. Oddly enough, the reason I didn't cast him was because I was making a sequel to Christopher Reeve and I wanted somebody who embodied Reeve more." That man would of course be Brandon Routh, an actor who has surprisingly done very little since playing the iconic DC superhero. Regardless, Singer would then go on to praise the movie, while simultaneously hinting that he would have handled the reboot in a much different way. Could he be referring to the now infamous scene where Superman kills Zod? I am in awe of the world building and the scope of that picture. It's tough for me. I'm not a critic and it starts to get into a weird thing where one director is talking about another director. I know how hard it is to make a movie, especially one of these movies and especially a Superman movie, and there was so much I was impressed with in that movie. There were things I might have done a little differently just because of the way I view the character. Don't misinterpret that as me not liking something. It's not 'Bryan Singer's review of Man Of Steel'!" What do you think of these comments?

Singer's Superman was just too much of a pussy. Never threw a punch in that film, and the messianic symobology in Superman Returns was just too over-the-top. There was certainly some Jesus-like imagery in Man of Steel, but Singer really beat the audience over the head with it.

With the over-complaints of too much action, I'm surprised no one wants him back.

I am not a fan of Man of Steel but can Singer stop talking about this stuff seems to keep talking out his ass how he had these ideas before or he thought of that title first or even now how he would have hired that actor. Just shut your mouth Singer hurry up and go finish X-men DOFP.

Singer is a piece of shit. First he ruins X-men by making Wolverine the primary protagonist, then he leaves the franchise to butcher Superman, and now he critiques someone else s vision? Yeah burn in hell Singer.

I will say this, the action sequences (we got) were great, the score was great, and for the most part, the acting was great. BUT...

It was an overlong bore fest that tried to be too much like the 78 film.

My tip to whoever helms the next Superman reboot:

Look at Singer's Superman. Look at Snyder's Superman.

Find the middle ground between those two and throw in a healthy dose of optimism.

Was much more pleased with Superman Returns than Man of Steel. Thank God for Eisenberg and Affleck, or I would have no interesting in Batman vs. Superman.

I have never been so [frick]ing bored in a movie theater than when I watched Superman Returns. Seriously, [frick] that movie. Nobody wants a sequel to that!

He wouldn't have casted Cavill because Cavill sucked. Let's face it, he had no charisma in MOS whatsoever. There was not one part where I looked at him and thought "THAT is Superman!" He was wise to pick Routh because he embodied the character way more than any actor (except for Reeve of course). It's a shame he didn't make his sequel to SR because I'm sure it would have been mind-blowing not the Transformers wannabe that we got in 2013 directed by Hack Snyder.

Singer was asked what he thought of things. He didn't go up to a journalist with the intention of boring them to death.

Its funny on how he talks about the sequels that never happen first he said he would've put in Brainiac now he is saying it would've been Darkseid why cant he just say hey I messed up and move one the mistake he made was was trying to do Donner Superman in which he should have made his own that's what Snyder and in my mind did great his casting choices are from left field but I'm willing to have faith

I think that Steven Moffat should write the next Superman movie. Superman should be like The Doctor only more physical. Doctor Who has a way of showing unlimited optimism and hope even when space aliens are killing and destroying everything you always get the feeling it would have gone way worse had he not been there.

singer gave us txo great x-men films. he made them the way he did because people didn't take cbms seriously and he changed that. wolverine was always a fan favorite. if you were in singer shoes would you honestly refuse an opportunity to include a mutant everyone wants to see? . and superman returns wasn't a great superman movie but it was decent. it's so embarrasing seeing people talking shit about him just because it's a cool thing to do. i'm sure all of you will go see dofp anyways. d.i.c.k.heads.

Brandon Routh was a perfect Superman, didn't need to change for Cavill.

Yeah.....he understood him really well....

He made Superman boring, having a Bastard child.....peeping tom.

He didn't even throw a punch.

The best part of that movie was the plane scene.

Despite my dislike for MoS, there a literally DOZENS of AMAZING things that can come off as a result of Zod's invasion. Unlike Marvel, we can literally feel the impact of an alien invasion. And no, not a stupid "bawrh every hero cmes out cuz of dis lulz". Shit like Kryptonite, organisations such as ARGUS, CADMUS and Checkmate, etc. They can do some truly sinister stuff with the military ESPECIALLY IF THEY BRING IN SAM LANE!

If you didn't want to hear what Singer has to say about his take on the Superman movie or what he thought of the film why even click on the article and read it?! People just want to make a lot of noise to hype themselves up like they could outdo the man's work. I'm not saying this as just being a fan of both Man of Steel or X-Men but as a person of respect.

No one told you to click the article or even read it so why in God's name make a big deal about it when you obviously came here to read the article?

Makes no sense...
