At this point, pretty much every name you can think of has been associated with Superman: Man of Steel, including former wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who has briefly addressed the rumors while promoting his new film, Faster.

While on the red carpet premiere for Faster, Johnson offered, "I love Zack Snyder, I'm a big fan of his. We're buddies and I don't believe the rumors to be true. But I would make a GREAT Superman."

He has proven he can act pretty well, especially for a wrestler! But not seeing him as Supes! Captain Marvel maybe? Black Adam definitely! But not Superman.

these internet rumors about Superman and other projects is going out of hand.

i like The Rock but he should play Captain Marvel or Black Adam.

if he play Captain Marvel then Billy Batson could be played by Noah Gray-Cabey.

haha, he just made sure to keep his name on the rumor list with the "I would be great " line. I'm sure he knows that its not the role for him. I really want him in a cbm though..and not just playing a muscle bound bruiser type either, the guy can act.

As for this Cap Marvel talk, you guys do realize that The Rock is black right? No Beyonce for WW but this is ok?

Dwayne Johnson is a "good actor"? Really? JGL, Tom Hardy, Ben Foster, Ed Norton, RDJ, etc. are examples of good actors. "The Rock" comes nowhere near the quality of those people. But he gets a consolation prize for trying, at least.

Ror- Personaly, i don't care about which colors were his parents. The guy looks tanned and that's about it. Plus, i guess it helps that i've never been a fan of DC's Captain Marvel and i always found him to be too much like Superman. To change things a bit would maybe even make the character more appealing to me. For any character i was actually found of, i'd say stick to how they look in the books, but not for CM. Bring on The Rock as Captain Marvel, SHAZAM!!! ;)

cbostont102- I found his reply funny as hell too. But i would have also enjoyed a "Will Smith" type of respectful decline. It's not a crime to realise that you're not fit for the part. It's humble. But i still found what he said funny LOL.

ckal- Yeah, he kinda does look silly in my sketch. It's really not one of my best work. But i dunno, i feel he could bring some intensity and personality to the character. I've always found Captain Marvel to be so fake. As in, the second he transforms into CM, he's no longer himself and passes himself off as someone he's not. He's really just not that appealing to me as a character. I think Dwayne could fix him good. Make him interesting and different from the big blue boyscout. But i know it would be disrespectful to the source and his fans.

Johnson is a great actor and if The Other Guys had starred him and SLJ, it would have been one of the greatest movies ever. He's wrong for Superman but should most definitely get a role in a CBM one day soon.

Although he fits the physicality of Black Adam to a T, he seems like too nice of a guy....so maybe Shazam.

@Gambit89 - You're trippin' if you think The Rock is as good as JGL. Even Vin Diesel is a better actor than Dwayne. Sure, he's obviously a better actor than someone like John Cena or Triple H, but then again, who isn't?

Ryden- That's EXACTLY why i think he'd definitely be awesome as CM! He's okay as a bad guy, like we saw in Get Smart. But he's a waaaaaaaaay better good guy! He's got that... "spark" or charisma that just makes you naturally pull for him ;)

As a comedic actor Dwayne has got it down. He has great timing and his performance in Be Cool, where he played a gay thug named Elliot was classic. His growth from his craptacular acting in The Scorpian King has been measurable. I agree he looks like Black Adam and could pull it off very well. Not good for CM or Superman in IMO. When it comes to Namor, I don't think he could pull off the dramatic anger that the character requires - it would just be campy. He would look REAL good as Gladiator.

Geeksiah- Awesome stuff but, were there any comics of him being black? Or was it just some fan's wish and fanart? Now i don't know why but, for some reason i feel that Captain Marvel would be better as a black man. Anybody else? Normally i hate the changing of races from the established source, but this time around i think it would add some spice to a lacking character to make him black. I know, i know. Sacriledge. Loganoneil would tare my head off and shit down my throat ;P
