I'm willing to give him his shot at it. Seems to be an honest guy.
And he can act. No wooden peg this time.

I respect these non-American actors that can act while maintaining an American accent.

It does my head in that people are already pissing and whining at the fact he's Supes and We've not even seen him act as him yet!!

Give him a frickin chance... Jeez... I think he'll be good though..

@PatrickBateman47. Manganiello? Really? Tell me this, what comic book has Superman with a broken nose in it? I missed that one.

@Jimdlux. Do you cringe when you hear Bale's voice?

^^Troll/ Spam^^
to the anonymous jumble of letters that was shat out by some terrible salesman on a diet of alphabet soup above... tyfdtrdtr? you spelled 'fashion' wrong, you stupid twat. GTFO.

Anyways. Can't wait for to see some concept art and a trailer some time next year! A lot of people know I wanted Routh to get another shot, since I didnt think he had a fair chance... but having since seen Cavill act, I can safely say that I think he will be much better than Routh, and, if he can get the accent down, he may be the best Superman ever on screen.
And I agree with UltimaRex @PatrickBateman, Manganiello is no Superman, he doesnt look the part, he's barely bigger than Cavill so your physique arguement is moot (Cavill has til something like August to get in shape). Better to have a slightly smaller actor who can still portray the part with the true justice the character deserves, than get a slightly bigger actor who is way too different to the character.
Manganiello would be a great Hawkman though.

I really like Cavill. Seems like a good guy. I waited almost 7 years for him to become Superman, and as fate would have it, he did. Really is a dream come true for me. So I support him 100%.

Nice to have a different-looking Superman after Chris Reeve, Tom Welling and Brandon Routh all looked fairly similar. Check those cheekbones!

on cavill-he's got to hit the gym, bulk up & he be a great superman.

I'm looking forward to seeing Cavill's portrayal, he's a good actor and I think he'll do a good job. He sounds so much like Tom Hiddleston in this interview.

@IronicMan- Who's that in your avatar? I swear I've seen him before :P

So who else auditioned for this roll? I know Routh, Welling and Manganiello did not. So who did this guy actual beat out? This project scares the shit outta me. I'm convinced Snyder must have had a man crush on him because there's not a lot super looking with this Superman. Strong with the mild mannered. though.

@TheGODDAMNSUPERGUY: Not only that, he BADLY acted like Reeve. :)

Cavill is already a better Superman than Routh was. Routh was the worst Superman in history, not a patch on the likes of Reeve, Alyn, Reeves, or even Cain (who was quite bad himself).

screw Reeves, i heard he was a dick anyway

@Superguy- Hahaha that is true dude! It happened, an editor posted it and it got front page.

@KeithM- I agree with you man, Routh was by far the worst Superman ever. He was a piss-stain on the entire history of Superman.

Cavill I'm really liking as Superman. He just seems like a really good guy who deserved this role. My favorite live-action Supermen/Clark Kents are in this order so far-

#1) Dean Cain
#2) Tom Welling
#3) Chris Reeve
#4) George Reeves
#5) Kirk Alyn
#6) routh

Once the new Superman film comes out, I will know exactly where to rank Henry Cavill on my list. But from everything I've heard so far about this film, I'm sure Cavill will take the #1 spot in my ranking, right above mister Cain himself ;D but for now I'm going to have to wait until the movie actually comes out and we've seen him as Superman before I rank him anywhere. But I think Cavill will end up being my most favorite live-action Superman ever. CAVILL AND CAIN FTW!!!

It's up to Cavill now to fix the mess left over by Routh and it's up to Snyder to fix the mess left over by Singer.

Reeves performances doesn't even need to be questioned. I like Roth's homage performance to Reeves. A better script and different direction would have made for a better movie. Roth did his part. I'm not that familiar with Cavill, but I like his look for the part and he's being presented in good hands.

cool guy. He's got that Superman thing. Who needs him to be 6'3? 6'1 is good enough.
