Henry Cavill On The Influx Of British Actors In Hollywood And His Post Man Of Steel Plans!

Talking to Total Film in a recent interview, British actor Henry Cavill has shared his thoughts on the sudden influx of his fellow Brits taking over Hollywood. Need an example? Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, Christian Bale as Batman, Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes and Tom Hiddleston as Loki. (to name just a few recent comic book TV/movie related actors!)

"I think maybe it’s an experience thing", Cavill revealed. I’ve done quite a few jobs over an 11-year career and maybe it just so happens that all the Brits are hitting their peak at the same time. No matter what age we are, we just seem to be coming into our stride. Maybe there are lots of people out there who haven’t been seen yet. So we’ll have to wait and see!"

"It’s great to have as many great actors out there as possible because it doesn’t have to limited to just a few good actors. The more good actors the better. We can bloody well work together and make great movies together."

As for what he has planned after Man of Steel, Cavill revealed that he's not ruling any type of role out. "I want to do everything! Maybe a fantasy type thing or some historical fiction. Maybe a sci-fi..."

Any other roles in particular you'd like to see Henry Cavill go after? Be sure to share your thoughts on that and his comments in the usual place!

It should not matter as long the actor does the role justice. Cavill is going to own as the Man of Steel!

I personally always wanted a mixed fellow or a Latin man with a Very Caucasian complexion and for the most part Features to Play supes. I think the Exotic look is important and kind of make him more Alien.

That is why I liked Dean Cain so much, he is Part Asian. Had a unique look.

P.S. No such thing as Race look it up in Encyclopedia Britannica...

They always Draw him with a look that is truly beyond the Normal Man. & I feel that makes sense...Very Sofy Features except a Strong Jaw and Cheek Bones. He looks like he could have some Latin, Asian, Black in him with him being prominently White. So as long as he looks the part, I'm good.

TheMessenger07@ I am completely on board with you. If he only were a little bigger I would have been an advocate of Ian Anthony Dale for the Man of Steel. He is only about a 1/2 inch shorter than Cavill, but I really like his look.

Who gives a [frick] where the actor is from?

While watching Bale as Batman do you think "oh no he's not american" during the movie?

Looks like americans don't have a problem if it's the other way around, like RDJ playing Sherlock Holmes or Meryl Steep playing Margaret Thatcher...
Thor wasn't played by a Scandinavian,
Red Skull wasn't played by a German,
Wolverine wasn't payed by a Canadian.

They are actors for christ sake! The are payed to play different characters...

And also, Superman is an illegal immigrant...looks like america only likes them as long as they have super powers ;)

Let's face it, most foreign actors are theater trained and we get stuck with the Channing Tatums and the Justin Timberlakes.

Dumbass American humans. Who gives a damn what person plays what role? Y'all would rather have an American who isn't all that good at acting to play a role? Or have a Brit play the role who can clearly act better? Ignorant people in all shapes and colors. Tch, so FAIL..

"There's no such thing as race." You are a [frick]ing idiot. Stop drinking the lib cool-aid, man. There are genetic differences between the races and they are as plain as day.

Cavill will be amazing as Superman. You can kind of see him as Clark Kent/Superman in this comic the way their hair resembles one another.

@ superman76: How about you not be a Dickwad and go educate yourself you f*cking Neanderthal...

"race, the idea that the human species is divided into distinct groups on the basis of inherited physical and behavioral differences. Genetic studies in the late 20th century refuted the existence of biogenetically distinct races, and scholars now argue that “races” are cultural interventions reflecting specific attitudes and beliefs that were imposed on different populations in the wake of western European conquests beginning in the 15th century. .."

We are split into Ethnicity by different environmental adaptations but a race would have to have a nigh completely different Genetic code.

I don't really care, as long as we get a good Superman movie it doesn't matter.

ThaMessenger07

You do know this information you are claiming as fact is still being debated, right? I bet you believe that Creationism and Global Warming are real, too, don't you?

There are human races just as there are races/sub species in other animals. Although thanks for your comment ThaMessenger07, you illustrate the correctness of Stephen O'Brien's observation of why people deny this in humans but not other species: Politics and a desire to avoid discrimination. However, biology doesn’t play to any ideological tune.

ThaMessenger07
ThaMessenger07 - 8/8/2011, 9:28 AM
@ superman76 You rebuttal by debating your opinion? You just pointed out, it is still under debate. Yet you still argue your point as fact. An intellectual that contradicts his own statement...Oxymoron or the standard for your type?....

Also, Stephen O'Brien is a "Conservative" that advocates Liberal-like Tolerance. Educated and a good heart but a walking Contradiction. Hardly someone worth mentioning when speaking of Genetic Theory. Just Shows politics is what influence your thoughts, not studies & facts.

P.S. Yes Creationism, No Global Warming :)

Hope this doesn't anger you and make you think less of me. What a sad world, when I can't gain the approval of a pompous, not so know it all.

I Got Nothing. J/K. BOOBIES. LOL, Dang dudes!

Like to see him do a Dexter type role, def. Sci Fi would be awesome, as would a Fantasy or historical fiction role. My Top choices... He likes this stuff & now he's in a position to choose, so I bet we see him in these in the not so distant future...

I am as patriotic as they come. That said, the best actor should get the job. I think a lot of people didn't recall how 'thick' Bale's 'accent' was since he used his Bruce Wayne voice promoting "Batman Begins."

I skipped most of the comments before mine as they appeared quite ridiculous. And let's not forget that Chris Pine is Aussie, the girl who played the Bionic Woman was British (the remake), the leads of "Bones," "House," and "Fringe" are not Yanks.

Big deal! Our boys and girls should try harder.

@SupermanDarrel-Well said! If an actor or actress is good enough to play a certain role then let it be. I would rather see a movie with great acting because it draws the audience into believing the film.

p.s. I can't understand why most fan-boys on this website are ignorant and prejudice.
