Lex Luthor- Good or evil?

Lex Luthor- Good or evil?

Follow the jump to read my thoughts and concerns on the upcoming Smallville finale and of course...my thoughts on the Legion of Doom!

Ok...so as we all know by now, Lex Luthor will not only be in the Smallville finale BUT he will also have 4 scenes from what we understand- 2 scenes with Clark, 1 scene with Tess...the 4th I have no idea.

So my question to everyone is...will Lex finally embrace his evil destiny? Or will he yet again revert back to being a goody-two-shoes as he was in the early Smallville seasons.

Personally I want Lex to be evil. I mean...for 7 years on the show the most evil they made Rosenbaum, he just did experiments and caused the Fortress of Solitude to collapse. But I wanted a MORE evil Lex. It wasn't until Rosenbaum left the show that they started to really make him evil- blowing up Luthorcorp, teaming up with Toyman and trying to blow up half of Metropolis and ended up separating Clark and Lana forever.

But again...that was only AFTER Rosenbaum officially left the show. Now that he's back, I hope they took the opportunity to make him into the evil Lex he was hyped to becoming since the very first season back in 2001.

He has the black glove...which is reassuring...in one of the finale pics he looks like he is in a somewhat gloating mood...observe the pic below-

I'm not sure if that is a slight inkling of him being completely evil. But the rest of the pictures of him in the finale didn't give me much hope. In most of the pictures he seems to be on mutual terms with Clark. So I'm hoping the pictures that have come out are simply him and Clark at least trash-talking each other as enemies, I would hate to see Lex revert back to being Clark's friend.

Another thing I want to examine is the LOD (Legion of Doom) coming to Smallville. As we all know- Lex has always been their leader. As we have all probably heard by now, the LOD will be commanded by Granny Goodness on Darkseid's behalf. What I want to see personally is a connection between the LOD and Lex in Smallville. I'm not sure if they'll reference him in the episode or if perhaps Lex can reference working with them in the finale. But something should be done to bridge Lex with the LOD.

Now any feedback would be great. What are your thoughts out there fellow CBMers? Will Lex be good or evil or somewhere in-between good/evil in the finale? Will Smallville actually bridge a connection between him and the LOD?

Post your thoughts or theories below and maybe we can find the answers together!

I hope when he comes back to Luthercorp, he takes his office back, and later renames the company "LexCorp". That would be cool.

Right I agree mostly, but I don't really think lex is the main villain in the finale.

I could be wrong but I think that in the finale he will only be set up as Superman's nemesis.

I think the confrontation will be more lex gloating about Clark's impending doom to darkseid rather than lex being really angry.

I don't think they will be buddies again, maybe lex will get a little nostalgic, but what I don't want is a scenario where lex uses some kryptonite ring and clark is defenseless, you know the same old same old.

I would like to see their match be a verbal and mental one and then darkseid is the physical battle for clark.

Lex portrayed by Rosenbaum did have his brother (a clone) killed and personally murdered his father and also paid a doctor to fake a pregnancy to get Lana to marry him then later beat the doctor to death with his bare hands, those are all pretty evil things to do not to mention his other murders (like the assassination of a US Senator or the killing of various meteor infected persons). Maybe you just missed those episodes.

Lex will be evil but maybe he will work against Darkseid since he is competition?

Lex has always been evil, don't know what your talking about. The only reason you didn't see his evil side in th early seasons was well because of his friendship with Clark. and Killing your father in cold blood is PURE evil, blowing up the fortress or separating clark and lana doesn't even come close. He hasn't become more evil, he's become more of strategist.

I think someone has not been paying enough attention if you don't think lex was evil. And, not saying its not true but, where did you hear that granny was in charge of the LOD? must have missed that. I think the empty chair at the table is for lex and hopefully they will tease him

Lex has always been evil, it just shows more later in the series. The Smallville writers HAVE made some stupid mistakes, but having Lex come back and not making him even more of an ass than before would be such a terrible step back, I dont think ANYONE could be that stupid, EVEN the Smallvill writers.
I'm guessing his scenes with Clark will be more along the lines of Lex reminiscing, trying to lull Clark into a false sense of security before announcing that he really is Clark's enemy, and that if Darkseid fails to kill Clark, he'll someday succeed.
I also think he might kill Tess.

I think at the end of Prophecy we will see Lex's body covered on a table somewhere and one of the "Un-holy Trinity" (being Granny, Desaad, Godfrey........makes sense for it being Desaad)showing up getting ready to "work" on him....which will play into the finale of Lex being brought back by Darkseid :)

@Everybody who commented- I've been watching Smallville since day 1. I'm just saying his evil side wasn't as omnipresent as it was later on. In season 1 he really wasn't all that evil, he was close friends with Clark and Lana and the others, he PROTECTED Clark and his friends.

@Hellsing- Yeah he did kill his dad...by his final season on the show- Season 7. I'm saying since Season 1 he wasn't all THAT evil.
