From TimBurton.jp that has put together another new slide show video showcasing some of the Concept Art for "K," the Kryptonian mechnical construct that aids Superman in discovering his Kryptonian heritage in the 1998 movie that never was.

"K" is very similar in a lot of ways to the Kryptonian robot "Kelex" from the Superman comic books that takes care of the Fortress of Solitude.

The never-made "Superman Lives" movie was written by Dan Gilroy.

Watch and enjoy.

I think his vision of Superman was warped as a whole but the dissecting segment where you take things apart piece-by-piece, it seems he had something going here as Teabag mentioned, but for some reason when it comes to Burton, every movie that comes to mind just seems like an eerie, dark and gloomy dive into his psyche.

i dont know about cage but burton would have done an amazing job in supes

WHISPERS @ Still it wouldnt of been a 2 hour love story that RETURNS was though lol.

Denn1s @ Thats what i thought exactly man, CAGE was all wrong but the concept was good!!

BIJOUS @ Lmao!!

JoshWilding - 9/26/2009, 12:46 PM
It probably would have been crap but even then it would have been better than Singers pathetic version!

JOSH @ You really hate RETURNS don't ya heh???

It wasn't great but it was better than some of the comic book movies that got released this year, no names lol.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 9/26/2009, 12:57 PM
LEE: Yeah, and i especially hate Bryan Singer! But it definitely wasnt better than Wolverine, lol - hell, it probably wasnt even better than Fantastic Four! :D

@Leee777 + Joshw24

I felt like I paid $13 to watch a Lifetime movie outside of my house. The film was roughly what, 2 hrs...i think Singer spent maybe 25 minutes with superhero "stuff." The other portion of the film was spent on spreading out a lifetime drama

I promised myself to never watch the film again and I've pretty much stuck to my guns on that one
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 9/26/2009, 1:09 PM
JOSH @ I didn't mind FF cept for sh!tty DOOM!

I dunno man, if id have to pick between WOLVIE & SUPES it wouldn't be too hard lol. : D

WHISPERS @ Ive got the Blu-ray lol! Though it did come with the classic SUPERMAN: The Movie, it was a two box set.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 9/26/2009, 1:16 PM
LEE: I think the stuff with Doom is probably why i hate it so much - that and the botched origins and poor casting choices as well of course!!! Oh and have you checked out my updated Cap fan cast? Now with Arnim Zola and Lukin! :)

Whispers68: Tell me about it! I re-watched it once...trust me, that only gives you a chance to find more problems with pretty much everything! It just turned me sick sitting there and seeing Singer try and pretend it was one of the 70's films - i mean you can respect whats come before and even pay homage to it but to copy it just shows what a talentless turd of a director Singer is IMO!

And you're right about the lifetime drama - I mean, was this what Singer was planning for the sequel?

Yeah, DOOMS a classic villain, and they FOXED it big time lol!

I knew NIP TUCK was a bad idea from the very start, just like DOOMSDAY in friggin' SMALLVILLE, not good!

But i still rate RETURNS over BORIGINS! : D

JALL @ Im not sure that was DOOMIE?? Ya right though. Thanx man.

I don't know Leee, I think Burton's style would have taken me out of the movie had he made Superman Lives. For one the character design alone:

(I dub thee EMOMAN)
Note that he looks like Frankenstein, including what appear to be bolts in the neck and wires in the head, the dark circles under the eyes and shaved sides of the head, the skeletal costume...it all looks like a cross between a member of the Spacing Guild and a Fremen Warrior in a Stillsuit from David Lynch's version of Dune. Burton is not a bad director, but aside from a very few films, Big Fish being the primary on that springs to mind, he doesn't seem to want to branch out stylistically beyond his rather gothic comfort zone.

Superman is anything but Gothic. I think the look and feel of the film if done by Burton would have been ruinous to Superman for a generation. I'm very glad the film was not made. Burton was just a bad fit all around for the character. The guy holds comics in disdain, he has said as much, but Tim its a CBM. We all would want it to be true to the character, not the Tim Burtonization of Superman. Tim's version of a Superman-like character. I think the whole thing would have felt like Catwoman a character who only shared a name with her comicbook counterpart. It was just a bad idea all around, to me no CBM is better than one that says, "Oh yeah, you love this character? Well here’s something not at all like it because the director wants to do his idea and do it his way; now give us your money and shut up." It would have been a total rape of Superman and all he was meant to be.

Tim Burton's new take on Superman:

I mean come on, the SL designs look more like the Zombie Black Lanter Supes, than the real Superman.

I thank the Lord every single day that Nic Cage was never Superman. The fact that we didn't get to see a movie with Cage as Supes proves that there is a God!

I liked Returns. No, it wasn't great or even really good, but it was solid.

I'd rate it over Origins, but I didn't mind that movie either.

Im not into any of that wierd goth shit so i hate all of Burtons stuff but there is no way his Superman movie would have been good! sure, there probably would have been some good parts but it would have been one weird film (thhough im sure emo kids would love it..!)

NERO @ Maybe that was part of what happens to SUPERMAN in "SUPERMAN LIVES", I dont think he's like that to begin with! We're talking BRAINIAC here, think about it.

Like the zombie SUPES pic man!!

TYLER @ Solid was right! ; )

JOSH @ FAILURE would be if we ever got ACKLES for a wanna be CAP AMERICA!! : D
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 9/26/2009, 2:55 PM
LEE: Wow, you were kinda quick to suddenly bring Ackles up again!!! I didnt insult you or Burton - you're not a freaking Emo are you!?!?

Oh, and Ackles would kick ass as Captain America! ;D
NERO
NERO - 9/26/2009, 2:56 PM
Yeah, I hope it wouldn't be that way through the whole flick, but did you really want to see Supes resurrected as FrankenSupes? lol

And i know you love Doomsday Lee, looking at the concept art; would you have liked to have seen Doomsday reduced to what appears to be a possessed lima bean?
InTylerWeTrust
InTylerWeTrust - 9/26/2009, 2:58 PM
I love Tim Burton, his movies are awesome (for the most part), but he was so wrong for Superman. Burton has a dark, gothic style and Superman is almost the complete opposite of that!

Peter Jackson/Neil Blomkamp should direct the Superman reboot!
NERO
NERO - 9/26/2009, 3:02 PM
Jackson would rock the hell out of Supes, no doubt.

JACKSON'S DOOMSDAY!!! ; )

And im sorry, CAGE was a no go but the concept art for SUPER LIVES looked amazing!!!

JOSH @ lol!

NERO @ That was not DOOMSDAY man! An anyway they [frick]ed DOOMIE up enough in SMALLVILLE! Never should he of been in that lol.

Smallville didn't f*ck up Doomsday. They made him an actually deep character, who you could connect and relate to, and made him a very interesting character, 3 things the comics either have never done, or have never done well.

The eventual Doomsday movie (which should definitely NOT be the next Supes film) should be directed by Zack Snyder.
