Who Would Figure That A Pair Of Glasses Can Fool People in that universe let alone any of the superman universes...they must be pretty oblivious to anything

This show is like a fart in an elevator...the one who dealt it is proud of it,one or two find it amusing,and the rest of us are sick to the stomache and desperate to get out!!!!!

@TheGODDAMNSUPERGUY
Welling has never played Superman.
If he's your perfect Superman I recomend picking up a comic and learn to spot the difference.
I've said it before,if thats anyones idea of their generations Superman,I pity you.
The makers of this show talk down to you guys and they're ridiculing your intelligence.And what's worse,you're lapping it up!
Amazo
Amazo - 2/12/2011, 8:40 AM
^^^ Fair play lol Still don't agree in the Kent context either.I'm not saying that anyone has nailed it yet but for me Reeve still has the edge despite the corniness.He was just so likeable and different from his Supes persona.
I'm hoping Cavill becomes the definitive Superman/Kent on film.Soooo looking forward to that movie!!! :D
rbfn04
rbfn04 - 2/12/2011, 8:41 AM
Clark Kent is NOT the mask! Clark Kent is who he is. Superman is what he can do.

If you are a Superman fan and likes Smallville, I'm sorry, but you don't know the first thing about SUperman.
Amazo
Amazo - 2/12/2011, 8:47 AM
@rbfn04
I kind of agree.
The Kansas Clark when he's home IS him.
Superman is that Clark in uniform.
But the Clark Kent that he shows people in Metropolis is a disguise/character. :)
LP4
LP4 - 2/12/2011, 8:50 AM
@Superguy- Sorry man, I usually agree with you and all but Cavill should model his Clark Kent after Tom Welling's? Look I agree Welling is def better than Routh but his Clark to me has come off in the entirety of Smallville as being a bit too...angsty/whiney. I'd rather Cavill be an entirely new Clark Kent. Yes he needs to be confident but certainly not "Tom Welling confident" Cavill needs to be a Clark Kent who is more SURE of himself and stronger in accepting his destiny. If he modeled his Clark Kent after Welling's, I'm certain in the SUPERMAN-reboot we would never actually see Superman.

@rbfn04- Well said my friend! Well pretty much if you like Smallville or the Superman-Returns film then yeah those people don't know the first thing about Superman :D

LP4
LP4 - 2/12/2011, 8:52 AM
@Amazo- God Reeve annoyed me as Clark Kent. Grew up with those films but I am really happy Nolan is giving us a CONFIDENT Clark Kent. Not the bumbling retard we've see on the big screen :D
rbfn04
rbfn04 - 2/12/2011, 8:53 AM
@Amazo

IMHO Clark is the same in Kansas and in Metropolis, at least nowadays, in the comics. And it's always kinda been his thing: he's just this farm boy from Kansas. :)

Can you pinpoint, to me, the difference between his behavior in his hometown and in the big city? I honestly fail to see it.
LP4
LP4 - 2/12/2011, 8:53 AM
@Superguy and rbfn04- You're both right. In the Reeve films, SUPERMAN was the dominant personality. In the Cain series- KENT was the dominant figure.

In the comics- I'd say Superman is the dominant figure.
rbfn04
rbfn04 - 2/12/2011, 8:56 AM
@Superguy sorry man, but no. He is just a farm boy from Kansas. The reason he does what he do as Superman is mostly cause of the way Ma and pa Kent raised him.

He is CK. He goes out as SUperman cause he knows he can help people and, from the way he was raised, he can't just stand idly buy when he can help.
Amazo
Amazo - 2/12/2011, 8:56 AM
@rbn04
I simply meant in regard as to hiding his powers and identity.In Metropolis he has to be more guarded than at home.Morally he's the same guy :)
LP4
LP4 - 2/12/2011, 8:57 AM
And for the record- I'd rather Henry Cavill NOT model his Clark Kent after any of the previous incarnations. I want a FRESH and NEW take. One problem with Supes is that he's always been rehashed and recycled on film. Time to end that mode of thinking. Time to get out of our little restrictive boxes and embrace a completely new and modern Clark Kent/Superman.

For me personally- Reeve, Routh and pretty soon Welling are all done. They are in the past written in the chronicled history of Superman and bless them all for that. But time to move on and embrace Henry Cavill as our new Man of Steel without having to unfairly compare him or judge him based on past versions and actors.

fresh slate...that is what Henry Cavill deserves.
LP4
LP4 - 2/12/2011, 8:59 AM
@Amazo- I agree with you. In Metropolis Clark is more guarded than he is at home.
Amazo
Amazo - 2/12/2011, 9:00 AM
@LP4
I only stated that so far Reeve is my fav Kent on film.I totally agree that now is the time to be fresh and let Cavill et'al show us the definitive Superman/Kent :)
LP4
LP4 - 2/12/2011, 9:01 AM
@Amazo- Yeah, sorry. Just tired of Reeve :D

I think Cavill will surprise a lot of people...
rbfn04
rbfn04 - 2/12/2011, 9:03 AM
@amazo @LP4 but aren't we all more guarded in public than we are at home?

Agree with Amazo, although I'm not a big fan of the "too clumsy" Clark, Reeve is the best one in film.
Amazo
Amazo - 2/12/2011, 9:05 AM
@LP4
Agreed.I feel like I've been waiting for this Superman movie for the majority of my life! I loved Superman 1 and 2 when I was young (I'm 34) but as I got older and read the comics I found out what I was missing.
@LP4 and rbfn04
On a personal note I'd like to say how cool it is to have a rational conversation/debate with you two for a change.Don't often get that on this site!lol :)
Amazo
Amazo - 2/12/2011, 9:08 AM
@rbfn04
You're right.So when he's in Metropolis as Clark he can't truly be himself.From there we get into heavy philosophy about identity!!! lol :)
