I'm not sure if they would do that or not. I think it could also work the other way around. He gets the alien suit from the fortress. People begin fearing him and then Martha makes the traditional costume for him.

An interesting point of view presented here as to the theory of why it happened. I think it's a bit more complex than that. Merchandising plays a very strong role in this. They want the MOS images separate from the ones already in the massive Superman marketplace so they will stand out (never mind if they are desirable or not.) Then there is the matter of DC panic, and the desire to represent the character in some new way.

Factor in some arrogance and twiddling by the studio -- do they never learn? This is made all the worse by the fact that the revisionism HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE AND FAILED MISERABLY, thanks to Bryan Singer and Louise Mingenbach and the folks at Superman Returns. It makes this a crazy stunt, doomed to failure, not only because it is bad but because it comes on the heels of an earlier, failed attempt to do the same thing.

This film is over, and the chirpy "I love the new suit!" drones on here cannot change that. I'm convinced beyond all convincing, YOU are a minority, chirpers. Go enjoy it if you can. As stated on other sites, I won't be there to observe your disappointment.
