SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE Lois Lane Actress Margot Kidder Has Passed Away Aged 69

Some sad news to report today, as it's been announced that actress Margot Kidder, best known for playing Lois Lane in Richard Donner's Superman movies, has passed away at the age of 69. More past the jump.

Reports are coming in that Margot Kidder has died at the age of 69.

The actress passed away at her home in Livingston, Montana according to People. The reported cause of death has not been released.

Kidder was born In Canada in 1948, and began acting in 1968 with her first role in The Best Damn Fiddler from Calabogie to Kaladar, before moving on to parts in the likes of Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx, Sisters, and The Great Waldo Pepper.

But of course, she will be best remembered for playing Lois Lane in 1978's Superman: The Movie, starring opposite the late Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel. Kidder would go on to reprise the role in three sequels.

Kidder had battled mental health issues in later life. She is survived by her daughter, Maggie McGuane.

Oh man... what a sad day. I just watched the first Superman movie about a month ago. She was the definitive Lois Lane.

I volunteered for a Film and Comic Con in Scotland about nearly 3 years ago now. We were told that if we wanted an autograph to do so at the end of the day. And yet there were lots of guests there,Margot Kidder was there and was the only person I wanted to meet. And I got so nervous I started stuttering my words in front of her. She was honestly the most lovely woman and the kindest person there. I'm so glad I got that chance to talk to her, and I'm going to cherish this for the rest of my life:
