BURBANK, CA, November 7, 2012 – Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that director Zack Snyder’s upcoming action adventure “Man of Steel” will be presented in 3D in select theaters, as well as in 2D and IMAX®, so fans of the iconic superhero will be able to experience the much-anticipated movie in their format of choice.

Snyder stated, “The film is going to be a visually exciting experience in all formats: 2D, 3D and IMAX. Anticipating how audiences today embrace 3D, we designed and photographed the movie in a way that would allow ‘Man of Steel’ to captivate those movie goers, while respecting fans who prefer a more traditional cinematic experience. We’ve taken great measures to ensure the film and the story come first, and 3D is meant as an enhancement.”

The film stars Henry Cavill in the role of Superman/Clark Kent, alongside three-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams (“The Fighter”), Oscar® nominee Michael Shannon (“Revolutionary Road”), Academy Award® winner Kevin Costner (“Dances with Wolves”), Oscar® nominee Diane Lane (“Unfaithful”), Oscar® nominee Laurence Fishburne (“What’s Love Got to Do with It”), Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix, Michael Kelly, Richard Shiff, and Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe (“Gladiator”).

“Man of Steel” is produced by Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay was written by David S. Goyer, from a story by Goyer & Nolan, based upon Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster and published by DC Entertainment. Thomas Tull, Lloyd Phillips and Jon Peters are the film’s executive producers.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Legendary Pictures, a Syncopy Production, a Zack Snyder Film, “Man of Steel.” The film is slated for release on June 14, 2013 and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

I don't really care. I'll be seeing it in 2D. But it should look great given the amount of post-production time they've had.

And good statement by Snyder.

I don't know much about 3-D conversion. I thought Prometheus looked good, but found Thor ok, but a little hokey in places. Does anyone know if these films were conversions or filmed in 3-D and how different are the two?

If they filmed in 3D I wouldn't have a problem, but this is pointless.

@D117 lol my bad, I was debating (for a quick second) whether or not I was gonna post, after seeing it on Facebook.

@Guardian lol why throw the fit? It just adds money to the film, and gives people who actually enjoy the 3D something to look forward to. People who don't care for 3D, (me), can watch it in 2D or IMAX.

I will see this film in whatever format is available for the earliest showtimes available at the time I arrive at the cinema. Hopefully, I'll catch a non–3D presentation. The brightness of the shots in the trailer have me to believe that this could be as comfortable to watch as Marvel's The Avengers climax was to watch in stereoscopic.

@JDUKE25 Because now I HAVE to watch it in 3D!

I won't be watching in 3D. The only movie I ever saw in 3D that was good is Avatar and I believe that was also in IMAX.

But MOS must look AMAZING in IMAX. Snyder is known for style and color. I'm trying to go to the first midnight showing so if I do then I'll settle for whatever is available.

If not, I'd probably try to convince my boyfriend to go watch it in IMAX.

Wish they wouldn't have done this, but whatever. I'll be seeing it in 2D.

God dammit I hate 3d conversions. If you are going to make a movie that retarded ass 3d then do it from the start so it doesn't suck.
bazinga85
bazinga85 - 11/7/2012, 3:30 PM
I'll probably just see it in IMAX. This movie will most definitely have a great story, and seeing it in 3D will distract me, lol. A movie like the Avengers is best seen in 3D

MOS being converted in 3D doesn't bother me. Parents will take their kids to watch it that way, an extra $10 a ticket in MOS's pocket so bring it on!

I might try to check this out in IMAX. Seems like the type of movie that will look fantastic in that format!

Thought I'd share this too. Not too long ago, they played an independent film at my college called "Take Shelter" that starred Michael Shannon. I gotta say, this guy's got some serious acting chops! Can't wait to see his portrayal of Zod!

Can't wait for this so excited this my most anticipated movie of 2013. My movie theatre has an IMAX screen but will only do IMAX 3D if it's in 3D. Hope we get a trailer soon probably attached to the hobbit

People need to stop going to converted 3d films. Force the studio to film in 3D at least.

Screw 3D, they're just going to spend money that could be best invested in polishing the CGI.

I assume the movie will feature some shaky sequences, which can be disruptive in 3D. I'll stick to 2D version.
