As of May 31, fans received the news that DC Comics are going to reboot the entire DC Universe. Along with that news, we got to see the first look at the New Justice League that fans with lukewarm feelings toward the changes with Superman’s costume in particular. I personally believe that Superman’s costume should have stayed the same because it’s basically Superman. The question that leaves fans is whether or not the changes in Superman’s costume will influence the upcoming film “Man of Steel” starring Henry Cavill as the man of tomorrow.

If so how will fans react if the new costume is the official for the film? Will people praise the costume or will they pan it? As of six years ago when the official costume of Superman for Superman Returns was finally released, I really did not see Superman. I tried to accept it but could not wrap my head around the suit. People may hate me or criticize me when I say this about Superman’s costume; however, you should know from my previous articles that I do not write to please everyone. Now to Superman’s costume, the classic costume and the earth one costume will always be the best costume. I trust Snyder in keeping the classic suit after watching “300” and “Watchmen”. I am going to leave it plain as this “If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix”.

No to collar suit. How can Clark Kent would ever hide it underneath his shirt? Anyway, I still prefer the Earth One Superman costume.

Any news about some casting?

I like the old suit BUT.....they'll need to change it for the New Movie.........If it is "Why SUPERMAN"...NOLAN/GOYER/SYNDER will have to ANSWER-> WHY WEAR THE SUIT? WHY THE UNDER_WEAR? WHAT PURPOSE DOES IT SERVE? .....Why is he relevant?

Supes costume is classic and iconic but not sacred. It is broken. Small changes are warranted to update his look and bring him into this century. Make him relatable to modern audiences. The red trunks really need to go.

You trust that Snyder will keep the suit the same after watching “The Watchmen”???

Snyder radically changed Night Owl, Silk Specter and Ozymandius’s costumes. He kept Rorschach , the Comedian and Dr. Manhattan virtually the same as the comics.

All that proves is he isn’t afraid to change a costume if he doesn’t like the original.

I am sick and [frick]ing tired of people saying he cant wear a collar or a 3-D \S/ because he couldn’t hide it under his clothing. He’s [frick]ing Superman. He has access to Tech that is Thousands of years more advanced that Earth.
He could keep the entire suit in his pants pocket disguised as an after dinner mint if he wanted too.
His regular clothes could just shape shift into the suit via Kryptonian tech.
He could keep it folded up super tight in the hollowed out soles of his dress shoes.
He could keep the entire suit folded tight between his suit blazer and the lining in a secret compartment.
OR do you think he can manage to hide a full size bright red flowing cape under reg work clothss so well that no one notices and not be able to fold down his new super collar?

I love the new Jim Lee suit design. DC needed to do something about Superman’s old tired design years ago. This was long over due

I really want the trunks to go. They can stay the same in the animated films, Action Comics, and toys if they want, but the movie needs to leave them behind.

A realistic Nolan produced movie that is realistic and based around technology would lose the trunks and at least give him a neck level collar. The movie will make more money if they leave the old version of Superman behind like Marvel did with the Captain America costume. Average movie watchers will not be able to relate to a hero in a low cut top and underwear on the outside.

If die hard fans are so intent on seeing the old suit design with the trunks, they can go watch the original Superman series, or Lois and Clark, or Superboy, or the Christopher Reeve movies, or Superman Returns. All I want is one trilogy of movies with a more modern and realistic suit design. DC and Warner Bros have made more than enough Superman live action material with the old suit.

I like Supermans new outfit, but it doesn't matter to
me which one they use in the movie.

Anyone know, aside from the new #1 cover released, if
there are any other pictures of the rebooted character
outfits from the wider dc universe?

Superman's suit was designed after trapeze artists uniforms, because they were some of the most daring people around and they wore flashy outfits (yes, with trunks on the OUTSIDE and tights, knee high boots, capes, etc.

Now, WHY would superman DO this?? Well, it's simple really--it's Kryptonian fashion. He makes them look good also. There is NO need to revamp the damned costume. Jesus, it's his most defining physical characteristic. What next?? Lose the curl for a Justin Beiber hairdo?? Want Supeman running around in skinny jeans wearing a white belt???

"Will DC Comic’s Reboot Affect Snyder’s Man of Steel?"

That seems to be the desired effect. If the images that were released a few days ago are any indication of what is to come, then Superman is going to be ravaged again. I'm suspecting a level of collusion between DC and Snyder's movie to modernize Superman, starting with the suit. It's too bad really, after ten years of Smallvile destroying Superman's legacy, DC and Snyder appear to be driving the last nail in the coffin.

DC's reboot images show Superman without the trunks in a solid blue body suit with a belt. Pretty bland if you ask me. Snyder and company have been very quiet about what to expect when next we see Superman on the big screen. I don't think there is anything wrong with Superman's suit. It's not broken, so there is no need to fix it until it is. Singer messed with it just enough to make us all barf. When do we get to the point where we start learning from the mistakes of the past? Leave the suit alone, stop stressing out on minutae, and just bring us a GOOD STORY!

No lame-ass Lex Luthor land grab scheme
No bumbling, stumbling, doofus Clark
Yes to riveting action mixed with a relatable character.

I salute you. The layout of that suit on Cavill looks excellent. The blue lining of the motif with the bodysuit can represent the suit as traditional yet new. THAT'S SUPERMAN!

I say a small change can be good just cause most people want to live in the past is dumb.Things change unless they change the man I'm for one am ok with a little but no lightning superman or long haired superman plus what works in comics doesn't always work for the movies.

O.o Sorry but the "classic" Superman suit is so drag it's lost any luster it had. Played out like a pair of dingy converse. Any of you who wear those dreadful looking shoes know what I mean. It's the same with the trunks they have no meaning to the suit, nor is the style they were brought about in even permissible anymore for a grown man. Really underwear on the outside of his pants? God that's forgivable with kids around 3 years old but a grown man? No. I'm personally happy with the savvy choices of Jim Lee has made for Superman in the comics. As well as happy with what Zack Snyder has done with the MOS suit and casting :D Get over it nostalgia nuts. The new look is here to save the day. :D
