Already featuring one of the most eclectic casts for any Hollywood feature, superhero related or otherwise, Kenneth Branagh's "Thor" may have found its Frigga in the form of "Lethal Weapon" and "Ransom" star Rene Russo.
For those who failed Norse mythology in elementary school (or didn't think of just reading the Marvel Comics in order to get better grades in class), Frigga is Odin's wife, the Queen of Asgard, and stepmother to The Mighty Thor!
The weird is that Variety's Twitter feed had this posted a story about it a moment ago:
"Rene Russo joins cast of 'Thor': Front Page: Actress set to play Frigga, mother of Norse hero -- Rene Russo has joi... http://bit.ly/4uZU05"
But this link is no longer working and the story can't be found anywhere on the site. Did they jump the gun on the news and the deal hasn't been signed yet or was that supposed to be some kind of secret?
Could she possibly be Frigga? Or this could just be a misunderstanding? Only time will tell.
