A recent TV spot brought the news that tickets for Marvel Studios' latest MCU adventure, Thor: Love and Thunder, will go on sale this Monday, and we now have a few more snippets of new footage thanks to a TikTok video.

It's very brief, but the promo does provide some new shots of the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) shedding those extra pounds he gained between Infinity War and Endgame, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) pre-transformation into The Mighty Thor, Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) sipping on a beverage, and Korg (Taika Waititi) getting shot in the head before signaling that he's okay with a thumbs-up.

We will likely get a new extended TV spot for the movie on Monday, but for now, see the hero's of Love and Thunder having some fun in the video below.

Thor: Love and Thunder finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit) and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, Thor: Love and Thunder opens in theaters July 8, 2022.

I absolutely hate the comedic and silly tone of this so far.
As I have said before, You are dealing with Gorr the God Killer.
It’s okay to have some levity but the overall tone must be more serious.

Just another way to Marvel to ruin Thor like they ruined Hulk, by making them comic foils

I have a feeling one of the four is dying in this movie. Is not Korg, he is the one telling the kids the story of Thor to the kids in the trailer, and Jane was just re-introduced to the story...on the other hand, we saw Valkyrie fighting Gorr (using Zeus's lighting, which means that guy is already dead), so I have a feeling she is the one biting the dust...although I also think this is Hermsworth final movie, but I dont see them killing him off.

@SauronthePower - As far as I know, he only said he was willing to make Thor movies as long as he wanted, but he is signing one contract at a time, his original contract ended with Endgame (just like Evans).

The vibes I got from the trailers, his age, and the fact that he is the only one from the "Marvel Trinity" who is still making movies, makes me think this might be the last time he is playing Thor, but that is pure speculation.
Considering Taika stated he doesnt consider the first two movies as part of the same franchise, I wouldnt be suprise if both him and Hermsworth want to make a Thor trilogy on their own terms, and might eventually make another movie.

@TheHumanSpider2 - I don't see Thor or Valkyrie dying. But I do see many of the other gods dying as well as Korg. Marvel is well aware of the void left by the OG Avengers and taking out the only active one would not be met well. Especially that now Thor has arguably become the most popular since Iron Man's departure.

And killing Jane...hasnt Thor suffered enough already?

About Thor himself, they cant force Chris Hermsworth to keep playing the character forever, and its a role that demands an insane ammount of preparation, is not like he can show up in casual cloths, shoot scenes, and let the VFX team do the rest, like with other characters



And there has to be a point as to why they are introducing Jane as Thor.
Having said that, I dont think they are killing him, but maybe he decides to live as a mortal on Earth, so he is basically retired, but if Chris wants to return in the future, they can always bring him back.

I don't mind a joke here and there. I think there was an even mix of him being serious and mild jokes with him in infinity war but he seems a total buffoon now. Didn't like how he was handled in End game

@Pampero - 1. No, 'tis not. 2. Nay, we do not. We never had a truly serious Thor. He indulges in buffoonery in every motion picture thee have listed. Such as the moment in which Thor replies to an argument about Loki's murderous spree with a humorous remark, when a serious Thor would instead admit the wrongdoings of thy brother and promise Loki will answer for his atrocities.

The idea that Thor has ever been completely comedic or completely serious is something I've never understood. Thor was joking and playing around while slaughtering Frost Giants in Thor 1, and was on the edge of tears 10 minutes later right before he got banished. He was cracking jokes and was the butt of them all throughout Avengers while being the angriest guy the whole movie. Ditto for The Dark World and Ultron. The difference in Ragnarok is that his personality just evolved, to the point where he's unphased by extreme circumstances while also holding deep frustration and disappointment with his brother at the same time. Obviously, the tone of the overall movie dictated some of that, but what we've seen since then is a guy who is more self aware and at peace as a person while the events of the movie surrounding him dictate how intense his emotional reactions end up being (Infinity War and Endgame are both hugely tragic movies for Thor, and his emotional state tracks well from Ragnarok into those movies because things just get increasingly dire, even if he's still fully self aware).

This movie seems like just a continued evolution of that. He's always been the same guy at heart, he's just continued to grow as a person

I can tell that the Marvel 'decline' is gonna be all their movies making 800 million to 1.1 billion, with the occasional outlier in either direction, while every article is full of people lamenting what "happened" to the MCU while seeing every project opening weekend. That disconnect was definitely super awkward after the whole "MCU is dead while I keep seeing all their super successful releases" but it's gonna get even more awkward when stretched out over the next 5 years.
